BG1 NPC Project
This mod is not actually for Baldur's Gate, but the Baldur's Gate Tutu mod, EasyTutu Mod, Baldur's Gate Trilogy Mod, or Baldur's Gate:Enhanced Edition, which convert BG to be played in the BG2 engine. Starting with version 21, the same package works on Tutu, EasyTutu, BGT, and BG:EE.
This mod expands on the depth of character and levels of interaction with the NPCs from the BG game. When BG2 was released, one of the major improvements in many peoples' eyes was the increased level of interaction one could have with the party members. This mod was developed to allow BG players a similar experience. NPCs in your party now have banters with the PC, with each other, and small side-quests of their own.
As we were unable to get the original character voice actors to voice all the new lines, we instead sought out music appropriate to each NPC to be played whenever they initiate banter. This musical package is a separate, optional package (to keep the download size down), and you can find it in the Downloads Center.
Final wrapup of content for the BG1 NPC Project took over a year of work and testing by members from all over the IE Community. This wrapup phase incorporated new quests, recoded the project to install natively on both Tutu and BGT, and provided an expanded set of tweaks to add to the experience of BG using the BG2 engine.
The original project was divided into three phases:
- Phase 1: Banter pack (each character initiates banters with others NPCs and with PC) - Released in May 2004
- Phase 2: Quests and Interjections (the characters comment on the game's events, some has personal quests) - Released in November 2004
- Phase 3: Romances (with Ajantis, Branwen, Coran, Dynaheir, Shar-Teel and Xan) - Released in October 2005
