Upcoming patches, IWD-in-EET and IWD2EE

Hello, I recently read this post: https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/comment/899348/#Comment_899348

So, according to that post, "over the next few weeks", starting by the 17th august, all the games will be patched.

First of all, let's remember it's Beamdog we're talking about. This point cleared, some questions anyway come to my mind.

1) What impact, if any, will the next round of patches have on the release of EET and, most of all, IWDEE?

2) Can these patches potentially break anything in the vast world of mods? The stability of an EET BWS modded game is to be verified again, considering the upcoming changes? In terms of stability, is it better to play with the present material, or wait for the patches?

As second matter, IWD2EE will be done: http://blog.beamdog.com/2017/07/real-talk-icewind-dale-ii-enhanced.html

As you can read, Beamdog is searching for the source code, but I'm quite confident they will succeed in re-releasing the whole range of Infinity Engine games.

K4thos, will you re-think your course of action about IWD2? Will you wait for IWD2EE or continue working on the original version?

There's a hell of a lot of difference between the two original games(BG2 vs IwD2)... including engine features that were missing in the IWD2 that were in the BG2(SoA, example party member joining), so there's really no point trying to have that prevent the implementation that the mod(IWD-in-EET) will have. As it's ~90% done...

As for waiting the IWD2, and it's source... let me tell you that BeamDog didn't actually even use the BG1 source code to make the new game(BG1EE) as the source was lost, as was the BG2 source. So the BeamDog is more likely going to recreate the IWD2 in the Enhanced Engine, and then re-insert those new features in the BG2EE engine via patches, like it has done so with the other updates.

Imp is right, I'm continuing work on the original. We will see how to deal with it once (if?) IWD2:EE is released or more information is available.

Once they will be released I will see what's changed and update the code (that's what happens after every patch)

doubt it.

The patches Julius at Beamdog referred to are the iOS11 updates. iOS11 is discontinuing support for 32-bit apps, so all the older EEs (BG:EE, BG2:EE, and IWD:EE) have to be updated to 64-bit code (which will include updating all three to the v2.4 IE+ engine).

Updated desktop versions will come after the iOS versions are released. No timeline has been announced.
