ericp07
Hello, Meleryn's B file includes the elements that make up her romance talks with charname, and I'm currently working on what is probably the most important point in the sequence: her declaration of love, opening her heart and daring to hope that he feels the same way about her. I've slapped together and massaged this bit of dialogue, and I'd like more experienced eyes to help me code it properly, as well as to assist me in making her lines sweet and beautiful, without being cheesy I'll gladly send the little block I've written to anyone by PM, as I'd rather not expose such content to the public forum at this time (and Meleryn has no on-lne workroom of any kind yet; the mod isn't ready for testing in its current state). Any takers? Please? Thanks and happy holidays, Eric Link to comment

Thanks and happy holidays, Eric Hi, well, I'm afraid I can't help with the actual coding (I haven't done any myself yet) but I don't mind lending a hand with the actual wording, if you're okay with that. So if you want to send me the words you want her to say, I can have a look at them, make any recommendations that come to mind and pass them back to you. Hope that's of some use to you, and good luck with the mod! Mark Link to comment

Aion
as well as to assist me in making her lines sweet and beautiful, without being cheesy If your NPC was truly in love, she wouldn't care about things sounding.. as you call it.. "cheesy", as long as it's genuine and from the heart. I know from a writer's perspective you want your character to be grand and original, but try looking at it from a roleplayer's perspective as well. If someone tells you she loves you, would you go "Oh god, that's such cheese! Horrible! (laughs) Try again, and be *original* this time!" ? Of course the PC could be given that dialogue response option, but really...would a player really go through all that trouble to romance her, and then laugh in her face when she declares her love? Even for an evil CHARNAME, that makes no sense, as I'm sure CHARNAME is at least mildly aware that your NPC likes him/her. Link to comment

That's very reassuring...I'm finding that, the more I read the exchange between the two characters, the more I like it I might do better to focus on PC responses. Besides, being from a rustic, outdoorsy background, maybe the NPC isn't as poetically minded as one might expect of an Elf. Thanks! Eric Link to comment
