Anyone have a BG2 Install on Win 95/98?

I've written a quick n' dirty portrait selecting program to be included with Delainy in a DOS batch file. The problem is that I'm running Win XP, which actually emulates DOS and the commands are slightly different. Could anyone test this out on a Win 95/98 installation? None of the playtesters have one, it seems. :D

I have Win98SE here at home, and I refuse to go any further until forced. I use XP at the office and I hate it. I'm also still running my old AMD K6-2 450 with a Voodoo 3 3000, which is sufficient for the IE as long as I don't have Ascension installed.

DOS is great, especially since most of my assembly language tools are written for it, not to mention my favorite Ultima games. I still have my DOS 6.22 disks just in case I need a pure install on a separate partition.

Do you need to test it with win95 too or is it similar enough to 98 that it does not need to be tested separately? Though I might be only one in the planet having it still up and running. So I doubt that you get too much hate mail if it does not work with 95.

i have had to work on some rather archaic batch commands on both win95 and 98...

I can verify they are so close that they're almost indistinguishable...

I used to build Netware systems from late '88 into early '90. A typical system consisted of a 386 with a 40mb harddrive as the server and various types of 286 machines (or less) as the workstations. We used old 'Arcnet' cards. I forget what version of Novell we were using, but 2.31 seems to stick in my memory. I remember it took forever to prep a harddisk. Start it one day, let it run overnight, and resume installation the next day. :D

I'm a CNE 3.12...except that i let that expire, since i live in seattle...(microsoft country)...besides, my interests changed to routing...

wow...2.31...and arcnet...i remember my first information technology job, the site used arcnet on coaxal...my hatred of coaxal dates back that far...

urm...i've read somewhere that someone at canige-mellon ran an arcnet network using kite string soaked in brine...wow...despite its problems in a modern network, like a limited addressing space, arcnet is so reliable...

gosh...i remember taking hours to install netware on a 486...sniff..those were the good old days..now you spend time waiting for the partion mirrors, and disk arrays to be written properly... :D :wink.gif:D:D
