SOLVED: Weapon Styles for All Problem

Recommended Posts

I've recently seen this as well. I know that the Tweak pack was the last mod installed. I think since then though I've upgraded to Tutufix 3 (from 2, after uninstalling both fix2 and tweak first) and also played around with using the BG2 Balderdash fixpack (as suggested by fix3 readme). I've not played enough since to see if I've still got this problem - if it does re-occur I'll send files as well.

I also have not installed the proficiency tweak (it is too much of a cheat for me - but now I get penalised!)

Thanks for all the hard work.

Could you explain this, how are you being penalised?

Just musing on that I resisted installing the tweak to enable all skills/levels and yet ended up with not being able to increase the ones I had! It made me smile to myself.

Enjoying the modded game a lot - this quirk is not a problem as I'll just use Shadowkeeper to fix it if it does happen to me again.

I'll try un and reinstalling before I email you. Thanks for the prompt help!

Thanks for the log and the debug file. Unfortunately, I can't see anything the could be causing this problem.

The thought occurs to me, however, that you may have misunderstood the function of the component. Weapon Style for All applies to Single Weapon Style, Sword and Shield Style, Two Weapon Style and Two Handed Weapon Style only. It does not apply to the actual weapon proficiencies, these remain the same.

Can you confirm that you are having problems with placing more that 1 point in a weapon style rather than a proficiency?

b00sfuk: At which point did you install BG2 Baldurdash?

I am pretty sure I did not mess with this until afterwards. Order was:

BG1/TOSC Original Saga

BG2/ToB + patch

BG1 Balderdash fixpack

BG1 Balderdash text update

BG1 item exclusion mod (puts ITEMEXCL.2DA in Bg1 override)

BG1Tutu V4

BG1Tutu fixpack 2 (not all options)

BG1Tutu Tweak pack (not all options - almost certain I did not install prof mod)

---I "think" I saw the problem at this time but it might have been after this next stage.

then BG1tutu fixpack 3 released so:

BG1Tutu tweak pack uninstalled

BG1Tutu fixpack 2 uninstalled

BG2 Balderdash (not all options)

BG1Tutu V4 rerun

BG1Tutu fixpack 3 (not all options)

BG1Ttutu tweak pack (not all options - prof mod is not installed)

I have just used Shadowkeeper to up Imoen's exp to test new levels and hence skills. I cannot add proficiency points to either dagger or short bow which are both at 1 star. The weapon proficiency mod in the tweak pack is NOT installed.

I'm tempted to reinstall all from scratch and load my current save game to check again.

Oh, did not realise, might be OK then.

From my side is this OK from my testing:

Imoen (L7) - weapon prof max 1, style max 1

Minsc (L7)- weapon prof max 2, style max 3

This is normal, you should be able to add proficiency points to these if they are already at 1 star. You can't with Weapon Styles for All either.

I assume you mean that I should NOT be able to add an points over and above 1 for a thief. I am rereading the manual and I think it is all down to my confusion rather than any problem with the mod (that I have). E.g. a thief has no weapon specialisation and can therefore not increase pass 1 star.

thanks for your help, I'm happy now, don't know if this helps "The Genius" at all though.

No problem. It turned out there was no bug it your case, so I'm happy. It also brought up the lack of detail in the readme, I'll improve that so this misunderstanding doesn't happen again.
