Fiann of the Silver Hand
Surely this has been discussed. Perhaps under another topic? I'm just curious what the row of numbers are beneath the group names, and the relationship of the Difficulty column. Link to comment
Jarno Mikkola
The forum search is just like the google search, kinda... so just use the droowlers. Fiann of the Silver Hand
I only got 2 results, both dealing with the old G3 Debugging Suite. gibberlings3.net/debug/ gibberlings3.net/readmes/readme-g3_debugging_suite.html I'm going throught the shs spawn mod to see if there's any more info. Perhaps also the tutu board will have something. Strange that the iesdp has zero information. [edit] Are the numbers related to the "power" level designated for the point? Link to comment
lynx
Yes, it's a marker of difficulty. Link to comment
Fiann of the Silver Hand
Okay, I don't know how the numbers are supposed to correlate. "creature power": No idea what this is. The row of numbers beneath each group name in spawngrp? Or some other arcane formulae? So basically there could be up to 10 "levels" of difficulty of spawns? "frequency = seconds between spawning": I assume this means between complete sets of spawns, not each individual creature. spawn method: The first three are explained somewhat well. The rest are still used extensively, in combinations, and are utterly opaque. Link to comment
lynx
You could check IESDP (ARE) or read our sources. Creature power (total) is used for determining if a spawn group should happen or not (compared to party level). Not all creatures have the real power level (one of the xp fields reused) set though. It's used with total difficulty, for each individual spawn, so you can get roughly the same output with different types/counts of creatures (ignoring frequency and max here). What other spawn methods did you find? Link to comment
Fiann of the Silver Hand
I'm not even sure I grasp this to interpret my own question. I think I was confused by the slightly different nomenclature between iesdp and NI. I'm going to take a couple of screenshots and try to get it straightened out on my end later tonight. Re: spawn methods: It's just the numerous 'unknown' flags that are enabled in multiple configurations. In BGT AR6600 (Lion's Way), sp0 has no flags set. No problem, I guess, though I have no idea what any of the other parameters mean anyway. But then you have: AR9200 (Shipwreck Beach) with flags 10 & 12 set for sp1 AR9500, flags 11 & 12; sp2 AR9400, flags 6, 7, 9, 11, 12, & 15; sp6 etc It seems incredible that these things would have real functionality. Maybe a group of them refer to Chapters they are active during, and if none are set, then they are always active? Link to comment
Fiann of the Silver Hand
Right, the CRE XP entry can be used with summoning to determine how many creatures get summoned from the referenced 2da. So that's what "creature power" is referring to? Gotcha, that's the same nomenclature as in the CRE file. I was trying to relate it to the row of numbers beneath the group names in spawngrp. lynx
And on top of that, resting interruptions are handled separately, but similarly. Link to comment
Fiann of the Silver Hand
Alrighty then. I think I can get it from here now that I know it's kinda the same principle as summons. Still don't know all the other variables' roles, but I can get it to do what I need. Thanks (so far. I'm sure I'll be back). Link to comment
