Sneak Attack in EET

Meaningless

Recommended Posts

Saw this feature but didn't know the exact mechanics for Sneak Attack (SA). The readme is also very vague on providing a thorough explanation...

Apparently, thiefs can only SA once per enemy, do they need to be standing on flank/back of enemies, or is that a non-issue?

Dunno about the exact hit/damage modifier, could someone provide the numbers? Also, do the exact same mechanics apply to enemies attacking the party?

Would also be interesting to know if this SA is moddable, would love to lift this "once per enemy" while reducing the bonuses by a large amount, so that SA works as long as proper position is maintained (obviously impossible if the SA mechanic ignores positioning, at which point I'll just say 'screw it all' and keep using backstab :uu: ).

Anyway, hopefully somebody has already looked at this into depth and can share.

Look at the IWDEE documentation for specifics, but I believe SA damage is 1d6 x your backstab modifier. So less damage than backstabbing, but the trade-off is, you don't have to be invisible, just need proper positioning.

I believe it is only moddable as far as the damage multiplier, by editing backstab.2da, but other stuff like the positioning and 1x/enemy is hard-coded. But admittedly I haven't really investigated it much.

It adds a (level and kit-dependant) number of d6 to the regular attack damage instead of multiplying it. Can be edited through sneakatt.2da.

Apparently, the once per enemy for sneak attack can be removed or edited as pleases, kjeron mentions here: https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/comment/816945/#Comment_816945

SA can even be used together with backstab without one interfering with the other. Asked because I would be interested in a change that reduces damage values from both abilities but allows thieves to use senak attack frequently, perhaps even all the time, giving a small combat buff to them, but the enemy positioning remains a problem.
