Cannot install mod/ via Steam client

Hi there, I am a long time player of Baldur's Gate and saw this mod and immediately I wanted to try it out. However I am having issues installing this onto my computer. I have placed the downloaded file into the game directory (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition) and when I go to install everything seems fine. I advance through all the steps and choose my options on what I would like installed. Once I have finished I am prompted to press enter to install. The initially all install, however, it then gives an error and then skips everything entirely saying it could not install the "Initialise AI" which is needed for basically everything. I have tried choosing different options, deleting and re-installing the game, even installing both BG1:EE and BG2:EE and still the same thing happens. I am not sure how to attach any image of what happens, but I can create a link for it for someone to view if it will help.

Any help would be appreciated as my brothers and I would really like to play the game with this mod enabled.

Many thanks,

Kind regards,

Hugh

2. For steam versions run *moderge* before installing any mods link

This is only needed in a BG1EE games from GoG or Steam that CONTAIN the Siege of the Dragonspear expansion. The link probably says the same stuff, but IT*S NOT OBVIOUS.

I currently have BG:EE, and the Seige Expansion(It installs automatically when i download BG1:EE) installed as well, does that mean I still need to run "moderge" beforehand? Or do I simply have to install BG in another directory?

Hmm, I have installed Modmerge and then continued with trying to install the SCS, but I am still getting the same error. The game is installed under another directory but I keep getting the same error, that it failed to install "Initialise Mod". Is there a way for me to upload the .debug so that someone can take a look at it ?

Edit:

This is the link to the debug file, if someone can take a look, would be much appreciated.

"Another directory" do you mean a random C drives folder, that's not the only non protected folder your PC probably has, aka the C:\Users\<username>\ -sub folders, that the Windows 10 and other updated Windows'es allow you to use as your own content folder.

Yes, blame Windows on this cheese. There's also multiple antivirus programs that "sandbox" your entire computer, even when "disabled" so you can't use any folder to modify their content.

Yeah I get what you mean, I have had issues installing a lot of older games in the past and this kept cropping up. I have actually installed Steam onto my USB and therefore downloaded Baldurs gate 1/2 onto it, along with others. I have tested all the games and they all work perfectly fine.

The bad side of the USB at least in BG moding usage is that the data transfer time WILL BE EXTREMELY code dependent, and as the SCS is one of the most time consuming mods to install especially onto a modified game, this could come to haunt you.

I have just successfully the BG2 Tweaks mod pack with no issues. I then tried to install the SCS again, and again same error. I don't seem to understand why this particular mod does not install. It always fails at the same point and then prompts me to try and install it again.

For the most recent versions of BGEE and BG2EE you'll need to apply the SCS hotfixes first (after running modmerge). Instructions and links are here:
