Enhanced edition compatibility

I have finally got aroud to trying out the Enhanced edition of Baldur's Gate; and while it is good, I got to say I like my old modded version better. So I was wondering are old mods compatible with the new baldur's gate? I know a lot of the mods on this site (if not all) say they are compatible but I have old mods from other sites that are no longer being updated, are these compatible or should I only use mods that say "Enhanced edition" on them?

 

Also a bit of a side question. I know some mods are incompatible with each other as I just came across that issue. But I was wondering is there any kind of a guide for that in the community? I'd hate to install a conflict without realizing it.

Okay thanks. I have only gleamed it so far but I think that will help. But what do you mean about "except the custom kits" is there a problem with kits i should know about, or will that be in the link you gave me when I read it more thoroughly?

 

The Mega-mod help isn't quite what I was looking for but thanks anyway. The BWP guide however looks very promising I just wish i had a mobile device to read it more conveniently. Once again thanks fro all the help.

I meant modding kits. Apparently they require some extra compatibility quirks on mod creator part. Just to be safe I'd installed only EE compatible mods for now, as for the rest... Well, some may work, some may not. As for BWP guide you can easily read it with Adobe reader. Hope this will be of some help to you.

Well, yes, the old kit tutorial still stands as a part of making custom kits to the EE games, but there's a few other things, such as the ToBEx cannot be used, so you are stuck to the 9 kits to select rule (+ base class) in the selection window. Also you need to patch the new games new files that came to effect in the v1.3 patch, so you need to add a custom library(fl#add_kit_ee.tpa) to the mods folder and use it in the .tp2 -here's an example- so you can then select the kit during character creation.
