A few questions

Apocrypha

Recommended Posts

Hey! I really like the look of this mod, the amount of work cmorgan put into it is just amazing. I particularly like the option to change Aran into different dual-classes, which allows a lot more flexibility in party creation than I'd have otherwise.

I just wanted to ask a couple of questions, hopefully no one minds:

1. Is this mod "complete"? I can see that it's available for download, but it's still marked as a WIP. Does that mean it still has bugs that would harm my game if I installed it?

2. How well does this work as just a friend mod? I know some of my PCs wouldn't be interested in Aran; are there going to be any unavoidable flirtatious tones?

3. Mod interaction. By that, I mean, does Aran have banters with other Mod NPCS? Does he notice if the PC is romancing Edwin/Xan/Sarevok/Kelsey/whoever, and comment on it?

4. Going off the above, if the answer is no, are there any plans to implement such features?

5. Are there any conflicting mods I should be aware of?

I'd really like to have Aran as part of my party, but I'm not doing anything until I know it won't harm my computer or my roleplaying. Thanks in advance!

SoA is more complete than many released mods. ToB, on the other hand, just developed a serious stutter, so if you wait a few days (probably I will have time from the 27th-30th) it would probably be safer.

I'm a dude, and play him as a friend/sidekick mod. If I had just stuck to that, he would have been done years ago - he should be fine throughout SoA. If you play a dude, you are safe. The most thatmight happen is PC gets the opportunity to flirt, and Aran shoots the idea down (he likes the ladies). If you play a female PC, he will flirt with you. He will make suggestions. And like any guy who likes/admires/finds you attractive, he will try to push his luck, until you tell him no. At which point, he will retreat to friend... until you flirt with him, or tell him you are interested, in which case he will start trying to flirt and attract you again. Hey, he can't help it - his "story" is that you are mysterious, powerful, and alluring, and he is.... decidedly not any of those things. So like most of us dudes who face unrequited love, he will hang around at the edges, until the opportunity arises. (At least, he is supposed to. Sometimes PC can be evil and manipulative to him over and over, and sometimes he wakes up and says "yo, step off, beyatch". The joys of random number generation - keeps things fresh playthrough after playthrough).

Usually not directly - he has a little back and forth with Canon NPCs, and he can be "aware" of other NPCs (usually the PC is given the choice, like making a side comment "Rylorn knows this better than you do"); the ones he has banters with that are Mod-Added are in his "Aran Aware" add-on found on github right next to him (there are a beunch). That is an ever-expanding, probably never "finished" mod, as it also opens up special dialogs for kits/classes found in Divine Remix. But for the most part, the PC is given the chance to spark that kind of backstory - if I write big conflicts, it means players have to choose; one of his strengths is that the player controls (well, influences to a point) the course of the relationship, and can move him from friend to boyfriend to lover to hireling to enemy (and all points in between - just like rel life :) ). Aran will have an affair and try and keep it on the down-low. If he goes after a potential rival to a serious extent, then he will blow that potential interaction for the PC. He does notice most of the mod romances and it sparks him to talk about things, but with PC, not with the modded NPC.

But I never say never :)

None that I am aware of.
