Hello to all, i would like to state before anything else that im not a english native speaker, i am brazilian so if you guys fail to understand anything i write here please say it so i can try explain better.

I'm a great fan and dedicated player of BG and IWD, because of previous problems with my computer i bought a new one and got a new operating system, the Win7 to replace the respectable WinXP, unfortunately i had to left my Baldurs gate behind but before that i made copies of all the folders ralated to it including the BG1Tutu and my BG2+Tob heavily modded.Theyre all in my external Harddrives and are okay.

But now comes the problem, how can i make them work? like going in the exe from the games, inserting the medias in the iso emulation software and playing them? i will have to reinstall bg1+bg2+tob and tutu again so i can replace em for my heavily modded BGS? or i just need to insert the medias? or the worst case scenario, will i have to download all the mods again and restart everything from scratch?

Please, help me on this ;_;.

and oh, i cant download anything in the website, its only me or its happening with everybody?

I believe the easiest way would be just to copy the games back to the exact same path (to avoid any mismatch in .ini-files and so on). Then insert discs/ISO and play. In other words, it's really no problem :)

I dunno if BG2 requires the registry keys to be installed? M@pple did say he/she bought a new computer with a new OS.

Personally I'd install the whole thing anew, install latest official patch, create a backup of BGMain.exe, chitin.key, dialog.tlk, and Override folder, install fixpack required for mods I want to install, install mods, play. Yeah I lose my progress, but that's what happens when you get a new compy, new OS, or do a clean re-install of your compy.

I wouldnt do that because it would take forever,

Yes that what happens Aion, but backup is there to prevent things like that,i would spend probably two days installing all the mods, testing reinstalling in case something went wrong and testing again, i dont kinda feel like it when i made backups from the folders with everything on it, if the game was a vanilla one like my icewind dale ones, wouldnt be a problem to restart everything, but its a fully customized game that i spend much time and effort working on :nono:

To transfer an installation from one location to another (even across computers), just copy/paste the entire game folder to the new location, then open up baldur.ini and adjust the paths under the [Alias] heading to point to that location. You will need to start the game by running bgmain.exe instead of baldur.exe.

On Windows Vista and Windows 7, it's advised that you do not keep your game installation inside the Program Files directories.

Well this is the first problem :D. Could always "downgrade" to that reasonably respectable OS. Which is actually an upgrade, because it's more stable, just doesn't have the useless bells, whistles and disabling factors that they built into Win7.

In theory though, you should be able to just copy over the folders from one computer to another. Hopefully they're not in "Program Files" but some other folder because as noted, Win7 has issues with that unless you disable UAC (sometimes not even then I think).

My english is absolutely perfect compared to yours. Or maybe the other way round. I dunno, I don't speak english. harrr harr

Do you have weidu.log file? If you have it then imo the best thing you can do is: reinstall your game first, check your old weidu.log and then install all your mods in exactly the same order and then just copy your saves and try to load them. should work fine, godspeed

The reason I necroed this thread was to point out that you don't need to reinstall the game or any mods. It's faster and easier to copy the folder and doing so is more likely to preserve save game compatibility.
Ha ha ha, you could always just make a new thread and ask the admiration to pin it... perhaps a FAQ thread that has more than one answer to an odd question. And then make a signature link out of it, but do that only if you are Evil...like me. :D But anyway, good point....thus:
