How can I slow down the romance?

I know that there are ways to speed up romances via CLUA, but I don't want to mess with all my BG1 mods that I have installed. I just want to slow down Gavin for my new game. Can I just reinstall him (per the Readme it says to rerun the setup for Gavin) and choose a different timer setting, and, if so, do I need to reinstall the patch? Or will doing a reinstall maybe mess other things up? I'm scared of messing things up because I usually can't fix them. :)

If it were me, I would not reinstall the mod. Reinstalling mods on installations that include BG1 NPC project seems to damage _BIMOEN, for reasons we may never fathom.

It might be better to use PID to tell him you would like some solitude for a while. This shut his side of the romance down for a while, but you can still flirt with him, if you like. You can also easily get him talking again by saying that you are feeling better and don't want quite so much solitude.

You can do this as often as you like without penalty. He's got lots to keep him busy. He won't mind.

If this sounds like a little too much effort, you can always reinstall the mod with a different timer setting, but you will need to reinstall the patch.

No, it's fine! Thanks. I was afraid of the solitude thing upsetting him. But now that I know what it is really for it sounds like my best option. :)
