Having a problem installing

The plan is to incorporate Detectable Spells into an optional component of the Fixpack, so it does not (and will not) exist as a standalone entity. The component would cover common modder code--Detectable Spells, expanding IDS diles to provide more script hooks, assigning area scripts to area files, etc. As such, it was never intended to be a separate entity--modders sould simply instruct players to install the modder component of the Fixpack. Once we have it nailed down (bigg, cirerrek, Xyx and others are working on trying to finish it) we'll start working on getting others to remove old/outdated versions. The version on the wiki is based off the latest BP scheme and will cover area of effect spells as well as items.

For hide n' detect, I thought the time period between turning visible after breaking HiS was based on the character's skill points in HiS and was not a fixed value.

For now, your best bet is to install BPDetectable Spells near last. I think my last two mods are BPDetectable Spells and Virtue.

This should solve the installation problems until we can get the older mods converted over to the newer version of DS.

Thanks,

Cirerrek

I'm sorry to be a pain, but I wonder if someone could directly answer my questions. I'm afraid I'm still none the wiser. :)

Cirerrek, the eSeries readme says that it needs Detectable Spells. Should I be installing Detectable Stats instead? If so, and I put it near the end of my install order, will eSeries still work okay, despite it (meaning eSeries) being installed before Detectable Stats? Or does Detectable Stats need to be installed before eSeries for eSeries to work properly?

I'm really confused by all this. Would I be better off not playing the game until all this has been sorted out i.e. the errors during the installation of eseries and gminion, Detectable Spells/Stats being implemented into the as-yet unreleased Fix Pack and removed from other mods etc?

Dang. Cam is right, you do need to install BPDetectableStats before the eSeries, because we're now compiling the scripts on the fly.

Okay Bursk.

To the WeiDU installation error messages.

Install (these are the mods that I know of that include the old Detectable Spells or a pre-hopefully soon to come FixPack version of Detectable Stats )

Install PnP Celestials before the eSeries and gMinion.

Then install

-Kelsey

-Ascencion

-Oversight

-SimDing0's (heck it's not a component, its actually a silent part of the installation) is it Tweak Pack or Quest Pack? I'd actually have to look at the .tp2's to figure out which one it is and I don't have access to them at the moment.

Regardless, install these mods before the eSeries.

Then install BPDetectableStats

Then install the eSeries.

gMinion does not rely on Detectable Spells/Stats/whatever. So it doesn't matter if you install it before or after BPDetectableStats.

Thanks,

Cirerrek

Thanks for the info, Cam.

So it's clear that I have to have BP Detectable Stats installed before eSeries. I guess it would make sense for Scriptable Spells and gMinion to be installed at the same time, so would this install order be good?:

BP Detectable Stats

Scriptable Spells

eSeries

gMinion

Also, Cirerrek suggests that BP Detectable Spells/Stats should be installed near the end (confusingly, he doesn't mention installing eSeries after BP Detectable Spells, so I can only assume he doesn't use it). So what about all my tweak mods that are supposed to be installed last? Do I install the above four mods before or after the G3 Tweak Pack, Refinements, The Bigg Tweaks and Divine Remix?

And what about the errors during the installation of eSeries and gMinion? Are they a concern?

Look, Cam and everyone else, I'm sorry if I come across as a bit of a dick, but I really, really refuse to believe that this is actually as confusing as I'm currently finding it, and I'm sure that with a bit of help and patience from the community, I'll be able to finally understand what mods should be installed and when.

If anyone wants to know what my previously-thought-to-be-okay mod install order was, you can see it here:

Edit: Posted the above before seeing the reply from Cirerrek. I shall read that now.

Nah, the latest eSeries is based on BP Detectable Stats; cirerrek is just using the old skool name it used to have. :) cirerrek's got a better breakdown of the fighting script mods (as an aside, it's QP and not D0Tweak that has Detectable Spells) and their relative order. For the four mentioned above, go Divine Remix, Bigg Tweaks, G3 tweaks, and Refinements. Refinements is the only exception to the 'install G3 Tweaks last' mantra.

And what about the errors during the installation of eSeries and gMinion?  Are they a concern?

Any time WeiDU can't translate a token, it fills in the value with 0--so probably a lot of these scripts will be reacting and responding to phantom influences and you'll not be getting their full benefit.

No, not at all--you're preaching to the choir. This frustration by players is exactly why we want to embed Detectable Spells (or Stats or Affects or Effects or X or whatever you feel like calling it) into a universal component like the Fixpack. Players shouldn't have to dick around with this; they'd rather be playing and we'd rather they be playing as well. :D The splintering of Detectable Spells is what led to this issue in the first place, and we're hoping (naively if you're of the cynical type) to get the new Detectable X package out and then get modders to start relying on the Fixpack instead of adding their own version. In the short-term, we've made the situation worse and we accept that--but we're hoping for the long-term payoff.

Thanks for your help Cirerrek. Tell me, do I need to install Kelsey, Ascension, Oversight and Quest Pack in that order, or is just important that they be installed before

BP Detectable Stats and eSeries?

Cam, The Bigg Tweaks has to be installed after Refinements (according to the Refs readme). And I thought if I installed Divine Remix after Refinements, I wouldn't get the DR HLAs for clerics and druids (although I probably just miss-read something which made me think that). Assuming I'm wrong about the DR HLAs, I'll have to make this the install order:

Divine Remix

G3 Tweak Pack

Refinements

The Bigg Tweaks

So where should BP Detectable Stats, Scriptable Spells, eSeries and gMinion go in relation to the above four mods?

Should they go after The Bigg Tweaks, or before DR?

The order of Kelsey, Ascenscion, Oversight, and Quest Pack don't matter (PS I originally had them numbered and thought that might be confusing, so I removed the numbering, :), oh well).

They should be installed before BP Detectable Stats and the eSeries.

BP Detectable Stats and the eSeries can be installed before or after DR, G3 Tweaks, Refinements, The Bigg Tweaks.

I'm sorry this is confusing. We're working on streamlining things. I know the pain myself after re-installing BG2 and some mods I was interested and finding out that many of them had preferential install orders....after I had already installed them. Doh!

We'll get there.

Thanks,

Cirerrek

Right, I think we are finally getting somewhere (meaning, I'm feeling much less confused about my install order. I think.). :)

I would still like clarification on the Divine Remix/Refinements install order, since I would've thought Refinements druid and cleric HLAs would overwrite those in DR, if DR is installed first. My guess would be that the DR HLAs would be a little more well-suited to clerics and druids (if that makes sense), so it'd be preferable to use those. But that's just me speculating, which is why I'd appreciate some input on this subject.

Thanks for all the help everyone, really cleared things up for me. Heh, I didn't know that so many mods had Detectable Stats embedded into it.. I see why I was getting all these errors now heh. I'll give it another shot and will keep in mind the install order you suggested.

Just glad to know it's a common and known problem, not something that came about because I fumbled around with something :D

Pleased to report that only one error came up :D

I think this is something with BP Detectable Stats, it seems to remove HIDEINSHADOWS from stats.ids...

Err, also one from Fade, but that's a different story heh.

Looks like you forgot Scriptable Spells or I am just blind and didnt see it. Hope CamDawg can put up a quick list of the order of install cause I am still a bit confused by reading this thread. I had a different install order and wondered why the scripts didnt work correct.

Thanks in advance Cam and Cirerrek

Sorry if I forgot to mention this but, Scriptable Spells is now embedded into both gMinion and the eSeries. So no need to install the separate package.

Thanks,
