BG1 NPCs for BG2:SoA and ToB

Hey guys, Smiling Imp here! Just wanted to drop in and tell you that the newest version of my mod has just been released. It adds the majority of the NPCs from Baldur's Gate 1 into part 2 along with new items, banters quests,items and areas. I hope you enjoy!!!

Could you give a little more details on the mod, like compatibility, where the NPCs are located how many there are etc. as for example the BGT Tweaks puts a few BG1 NPCs to the BG2 game, but they are almost silent... so in that light, I am watching this.

I know you from The Chosen of Mystra forums I think, so anyways I know this is genuine... any reason for the .ace archive ?

What's up Jarno? .ace archive ? I don't know.. Guess it was the easiest way I could figure on my computer.

 

I've never played BGT so I couldn't tell you, but as far as tweaks, I didn't mess with anything in that aspect.

 

NPC Locations..

 

Skie and Yeslick can be found together in the Bridge District. It seems that daddy has finally cut her off and she is trying to recruit Yeslick into her new merchant guild. If you have Skie in your party in the graveyard at night, you will have an encounter with Eldoth.

 

Garrick will be found at the Sea's Bounty after the Cyrando episode. He will have quite the story to tell you. He has an encount with Silke in the Five Flagoons.

 

Branwen can be found in the Temple District, fresh from teaching another tutorial. If you bring her with you to the sewers, you will have an encounter with an old foe from Baldur's Gate 1.

 

Shar-Teel can be found by the Battle Pits in the Copper Coronet. if you talk to Caratacus at the Blue Unicorn (The new private club in the slums) with her in the party, you will be able to enter the battle put league and have a chance to fight the legendary gladiators of Hillsfar.

 

Coran and Safana can be found in the temple in the slums after the Lanfear encounter. Safana must have been killed, but you must keep Coran alive for them to be there. They have an encounter in Wuakeen's Promenade if you have them together. Safana also has a a large battle/encounter if you bring her with you in the docks.

 

Alora can be found in the Weaponsmith Shop at Waukeen's Promenade. She is pretty much 1 day NPC status though right now.

 

Ajantis will be found after you kill Tazok. He is 1 day NPC status right now too.

 

Kagain can be found near the Dragon Restaurant in Waukeen's Promenade. He can join the party, but at this point is mostly a store mod.

 

Kivan can be found in the City Gates. He is 1 day NPC status right now too.

 

Xzar and Montaron will be found at Xzar's home after the whole episode with Lucette is over. Montaron has an encounter in the sewers. Xzar has a quest that begins near the water in the Bridge District.

 

Xan can be found in the drow city in the Underdark. I originally wanted to place him in the city so he could be readily found, but I did it to mix and match with the novel. He is 1 day NPC status right now too.

 

Tiax will be found outside the circus in Waukeen's Promenade. Quayle will sneakily join your party when all his dialog options are up. This component expands the circus quest, making it more fun and difficult and adding a new area. This also adds Oswald and Maralie Fiddlebender from Icewind Dale. Both are located in/near the Jansen home.

 

Apart from the encounters listed above you will find a few more quest to do in the Blue Unicorn or at the Battle Pits in the Copper Coronet. All the NPCs will banter with the Bioware NPCs though only a few will banter with the PC right now. Because there are so many characters, I focused on my favorites like Shar-Teel, Tiax and Coran and then worked on the other characters that were not so heavily modded already.

BTW is it compatible with other mods? I'm working on Safana... I know there's a Coran mod and a Xan mod by Kulyok. There are two Branwen mods...

The mod is broken into different components. Skie, Branwen, Garrick, Yeslick Shar-Teel and Deekin Scalesinger and in one component. Xzar+Montaron, Coran+Safana and Tiax+Quayle are teamed up in their components. Otherwise, everyone else in on their own. I did that so people could try and mix and match different mods with this one. For example, Kulyok's Kivan Mod is one of my favorites, and I usually play with it, but I added added my 1 day NPC Kivan for variety anyways. This way, I can play that mod while using this mod at the same time.

 

If you wanted you could just skip the Coran and Safana component and add your Safana Mod and the other Coran mod out there and still enjoy the other portions of the mod, which has been updated since I converted it into a .ZIP and now adds a new city area for Athkatla that I call the Water Gardens. Still in development but playable.

You know you can upload your mod to SHS instead of linking it to an annoying adware server like filefront. Might get more response that way.

 

Thanks for that Miloch, I didn't know. But now thanks to you, here is the newest version of the mod with some bug fixes, grammar fixes, and finished the new area...now hosted at SHS!

Need Help!!(also posted this on SP...)

 

I have the BG1NPCSoA mod going. I have Xan in my party. When trying to finish the Unseeing Eye Quest, I killed the beholder, returned the Rift Device and when I approach Gaal, he starts to bellow to his faithful to not run and Xan interjects twice with "We are all doomed! Run while you still can!" and instantly turns red. I cannot dispel this malady. Killing and raising him does not fix it either. I found Xan's dialogue file in BG1SOA/7XXAN, I opened the mod files with Notepad and found the below concerning Gaal. Is there something I change to return Xan to a Blue status instead of red? He is my mage and one of the reasons for this run through(also trying out Alora, Yeslick and will p/u Ajantis in the Windspear Hills). Fyi...When Xan said the 1st statement below, nothing changed in his status. I am no modder, that's for sure, but I don't see anything that would change his staus in the below. Another thing to note is that Gaal doesn't seem to turn Red after his dialogue though all of his guards do.confused.gif

 

 

Could this be as easy as changing a Global status in SK? Currently the Global Variables for XanGaalQuest-11, XanGaalEnemy23, GallJob are all listed as "1" in SK. The Global Variable for UnseeingEye is listed as "2".

Blades, report this to he author, please - the I_C_T he uses here has no passback, so the dialog action that Gaal takes gaets passed to Xan instead. The author needs to either change INTERJECT_COPY_TRANS to I_C_T2 on those lines, or, preferably, just in case some other mod wants to take part in the same sequence, a passback like this:

I PM'd Imp the other day but have got no response yet. No biggie as I now have Xan back in the Party. I just removed him and when he approached me I told him to stay instead of kicking him out and he turned blue. Has been fine ever since. Just killed Firkraag with just Yeslick and Xan. Gotta love Lower Resistance and Doom.

I will say that I have enjoyed this mod greatly. This is my third run thru of SoA with various parties including BG1 characters from Imp's mod. Haven't tried ToB as of yet though. Plenty of banter and extra content(gladiator pits, Water Gardens, new inn in the slums, etc....).

Hey guys, Smiling Imp is back again after a short absence. Thanks Cmorgan for that Gaal fix, and thanks Lollorian

for those other fixes you brought up at SHS.

 

Just so you guys know, this mod now has it own forum at the Chosen of Mystra. As a planewalker, I like to visit different places, but that will probably be the quickest way to reach me and report bugs.
