EET save incompability?

Recommended Posts

I think i finally got EET setup :

-Installed EET core

-Installed mods via big world setup (which I think is supposed to check if the mods are compatible with EET)

-Ran EET_END setup to finish EET installation

I then loaded a BG 1 save in which my party was in shandalar's house. For some reason, shandalar's house looked completely different, although the items from the dead cultists were still on the floor. Dorn was in my party, but his name had changed to "I said nothing to you, Viconia!". My main character is also constantly saying random lines like "You get used to it" or "You know...i've been thinking about the last fight we were in".

Anyone know what might be causing this?

This is the weidu log of mods installed via BWS :

-Installed EET core

-Installed mods via big world setup (which I think is supposed to check if the mods are compatible with EET)

-Ran EET_END setup to finish EET installation

Since BG1EE Save Game string references are compatibile with EET, let's assume that is not a problem of starting new game. So...

1. My first beat would be the lack of "DLCMerger" installation for BG1EE, you have to install this mod for BG1EE before installing EET_Core. Did you installed it?

2. Next, even if you installed EET_Core into BG2EE manually, it its missing from weidu.log which you posted. If you installed all of those mods via BWS then BWS would simply detect the fact that "some mods are already installed, can't proceed further because I need clean, unmodified game" and simply restore BG2EE to it's clean state - without any mod installed. So you EET_Core is gone and BWS installed mods for standalone BG2EE.

If you want BWS to "check if the mods are compatible with EET" you ave to install EET via BWS. Otherwise it won't work.

And you referring to BG:EE as BG1:EE without SoD ?

doesn't matter. Saves created on BG:EE or SoD would have wrong area names stored in it (BG1 areas in EET uses BG prefix). That's why he ended up in wrong area (area from BG2).
edit: when I now think about it Shandalar House is BG area, not BG2 one, which means my assumption that he is loading wrong save is incorrect. Not sure what's the issue here.

To clarify :

-I did run DLC Merger for my BG 1 EE/SOD installation in order to install EET core, as otherwise EET core refused to import BG 1 EE/SOD data. However, the save game was made on a BG 1 EE/SOD installation that used modmerge, not DLC merger.

-After installing EET Core into BG 2:EE, I had to rename the weidu log to something else, as BWS read the weidu.log, saw that I had installed EET core, and then refused to install anything because it was not a fresh BG 2 installation and it kept complaining that it could not make a backup.

Im a bit confused. Are you guys saying that I cannot import BG 1 : EE saves to EET?

You can't. This information is in the readme file. The mod uses different worldmap, sets variables along the way which are not present in your save, has renamed resources and moved strings position to not conflict with vanilla BG2:EE. Start new game. Then you will have save that can be reused in different installations (when it comes to vanilla game content, to re-use saves on installations made with different mods you can use this feature, which is unique to EET).

Yep, you "hacked" BWS so things are completely messed up, not only regarding you save. You don't have EET installed at all. Please refer to: https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/44476/tool-big-world-setup-bws-mod-manager-for-baldurs-gate-enhanced-edition-trilogy-for-windows/p1

Im confused ,I ran EET setup before doing anything with BWS. There were no issues with it. The problem was BWS saw that I had EET installed and then kept complaining that it wasnt a clean installation and it couldnt make a backup.

I have EET installed and working...i can select the different campaigns at the menu and everything.

Yes, you installed EET manually, then deceive BWS that the game is normal BG2EE. The consequences of such action is that BWS didn't apply any EET-related dependence and conflicts. You game will work but there might be some minor bugs.

For example: because of you hack, BWS allowed you to install "~CDTWEAKS/SETUP-CDTWEAKS.TP2~ #0 #4020 // ToB-Style NPCs: v5 RC 1" - but in fact, it's not allowed to be installed for EET. Please uninstall it.

Well...why was BWS refusing to install any mods on an EET install then? What was I supposed to do?

Whats wrong with the TOB style NPCs? Im playing through the BG 1 campaign and im not having any issues with NPCs at all, they start at level 1 when recruited and I can level them up like normal.

Because it was designed that way: to install BG1EE mods + EET + BG2EE mods in one go. You should just install EET via BWS, not manually.

Nothing is wrong, it's just EET default behavior. Installing TWEAKS component is unnecessary and generally, installing overlapped components is not a good thing.
