Install crashes in wineskin

I'm modding GOG downloads of BG1 and BG2 into BGT on OSX using wineskin. I recently modded PS:T in a similar way by pointing the wineskin .exe to each mod, and it worked fine.

I just installed the Mac version of BG1, then installed the Windows version of BG2 using the wine wrapper. Both games work fine, I've started and done a quick save in each.

Ascension installed perfectly. Moved on to bg2fixpack-v10.exe, and I get "the program has encountered a serious problem and needs to close." I've redownloaded the file and get the same error. I'm using the windows version, because it's a windows install of BG2. I tried running it from within the BG2 folder and from the Program Files folder (all within the wineskin C:\ directory). I've also tried using wine's "install software" but get the same error followed by "no new executables found."

After continued experimentation, I was able to move to the next step, so I'm putting the answer here in case someone else has the same issue.

 

The problem was that wine wouldn't complete the self-extraction process for the .exe, so I used StuffIt Expander to extract the folder and setup file. Moved those to the BG2 directory and directed wineskin to open the extracted setup file. Now it works.
