I'm making a mod and I want to shrink the maps as much as possible. There is a utility program out there that will compress them better than winrar-I have the utility but I forgot the name. Any who - does anybody know what the command line to pack the files are, also - when I make a mod does everybody have to unzip them of can I make it into an self extracting files?

I believe you're looking for info on TISPack, but since I don't use programs that throw away data (I detest lossy compression in any form), someone who knows how to use this utility will have to provide the info.

A self-extracting EXE should be fine, provided you have the TP2 file call a batch file that will use TISPack to unpack the compressed maps.

TISpack uses non-lossy compression with the -q 100 flag, otherwise you will lose some data. If you've downloaded TISpack already, take a look at manual.html; it explains how to use tispack and tisunpack at the command line and all the various flags.

The only potential drawback to using a self-extracting archive is that it can potentially not work for the Mac folks. A rar or zip SFX will work fine (since they can open it manually) but something using, say, an NSIS install program will make it unavailable.
