NTotSC for BGT, BG:EE, and EET

NTotSC adds several quests to the BG1 part (with TotSC) to the game. Some are minor encounters with no further impact, but some are larger quests that are also partly connected to each other.

This is a BGT, BG:EE, and EET version of the original mod. As of version 2.0, NTotSC is no longer dependent on DSotSC. If you want to play the two mods together, install DSotSC first. The versions supported are:
-for BGT/EET: version by k4thos
-for BG:EE: version by Red Carnelian (this mod is still beta, too).

To reach the new areas via worldmap, you need to install BP-BGT-worldmap for BGT after NtotSC an start a new game. For BG:EE, as of v2.1.0 doesn't need the BP-BGTWorldmap mod for the mod areas to be accessible via the worldmap. Thank you to AstroBryGuy for this tweak!

Since v2.0, the quests are less restrictive in their order, especially in the order of when to talk to whom. The only restrictions remaining are: The Northern Citadel Quest will be handed out from Duke Eltan when he summons the PC in the original game. The Temple of the Black Hand will only be revealed after the demon in Ulgoth's Beard is defeated.
All other quests can either be "walked into", received from multiple persons (e.g. "The Field of the Dead"), or received by killing the quest giver instead of going on his fedex quest (e.g. the Ice Slamander or Eldod - they will have the appropriate keys on them.) Also, the mod now uses the prefix "NT". The package comes with a detailed list of Changes including altered variable names. If your mod has crossmod content with NTotSC and you are nervous about the changes, let me know and I will help you concerning compatibility with v2.0.

Test reports welcome! I tested myself on all platforms but there is always something one pair of eyes will miss.

BWS currently uses

- V1.70 + patch v1.71 for BGT

- EET interim version for EET

- none for BGEE

In the future BWS should be using the common v2.0 for all these games.

Waiting for a *Go* to implement the change. Either now or after more testing?

Or you implement it yourself in BWS?

I have a tester now who is running on BGT. Will have another for EET. I like to be on the safe side so I think maybe we'll wait a little longer.
Updating BWS to use this version would mean considering the optional components, and also changing the conflict for BGT with Jarl's Adventure Pack to the appropriate components only - I don't know how to do that. If you would be willing to update BWS, I would be grateful.

Yes, it would also include a number of other changes in the conflict and dependence definitions and the removal of different mods for different games. It will wait until the testing goes fine.

I don't think it is ever said much, but I want to thank you, Roxanne, and K4thos for fixing up all these old mods. I've been holding off playing BG until certain mods became more available and updated, Northern Tales was one of the few I wanted to try out to it's fullest.

By the way since you all have more experience on this, but do these particular mods conflict or has it been long resolved with their EET updates?

Darkside & Northern Tales paired up with Drizzt Saga & Dark Horizons.

Reason I bring this up is because a long time ago, I was in one of the Dark Horizons Dungeons and apparently some "off-screen" named character was suddenly killed (the name looked familiar), I could never figure out which one of these mods caused the issue.

I have played EET with the above mods installed a number of times already without any problems. I just suggest to use EET_Tweaks to adjust XP gain with all the mods added. Also disable "Max XP on level up* in the game options menu.

For NTotSC it has been the interim version up to now,, not yet the new v2.0. However I am pretty confident that v2.0 will not produce new issues since jastey has been taking all corrections from the available sources (fixpack, interim, k4thos unreleased) into account.

DSotSC (either new BGT/EET version or BG:EE version) and NTotSC 2.0 should work fine together. Concerning the other mods I don't know, but I wouldn't know of any conflict, either.

I hope you'll enjoy the updated version! If you encounter any problems, let me know.

For BG:EE and EET the German version crashed when visiting the worldmap. This and other things are fixed now.

Changes since the original release:

-BG:EE+EET German version should no longer crash on worldmap

-The German install now uses German titles during install (the component titles weren't externalised into the setup.tra

-One new line added to Haeball so he doesn't talk about several things if PC had only quest for one

-Tweaked the Firewine Bridge Dungeon entrance script so the PC sees the warning about the waiting monsters if area was entered with Nib's scroll the first time (plus added a note about the usefulness of a cleric.)

-Ordolath didn't take his candle if PC told about mage in his house, now takes his candle for all reply options

-Corrections of Will's portrait (Some portraits were in png format, changed to bmp. BGT: changed "large" portrait to "willym.bmp")

-Corrected variable handling in shaell.d (Setting of original game variable "HelpShaella" was patched to false dialogue state/ reply option (probably without impact while playing))

-There is no prompts.tra so the call was commented in the tp2

-Fixed install problem on Mac (Binaries found in the bin/osx folder were not marked as executables and not called by WeiDu correctly. Both fixed by changing lines 48:49 of NTofSC.tp2)

Known issues, I hope I will be able to fix them soon:

-Olivia does not transform after the PC helped her

-reduction of XP in orc leader's dungeon is not displayed

-prevent single NPCs from leaving the firewine dungeon (e.g. during a fight) without possibility to return (because entrance is only with all the group, whereas exit can be done one by one)

-some English texts in the German version

-for EET, the fledgling vampires seem to be missing in the firewine bridge dungeon

In a drow library accessible from the Umar Hill Cave, there are all kinds of books and scrolls.

Among them is a History of Dragonspear (the mod is more than a decade older than SoD)

Excerpt:

Conchobhair originally hails from Waterdeep. He is the younges of four sons of the very influential Strongblade family in Waterdeep. However, being the youngest he had little hope of inheriting much of the family's holdings, so he set out to make a life for himself when he reached the age of twenty. He started his training as a paladin and spent a few years lifing the virtous life of the paladin. However, he eventually felt too restricted with the discipline and wished for something with more glory. On one of his treks from Waterdeep to Baldur's Gate, he met a warrior by the name of Fergus Ravenskill.

Fergus was a very valiant warrior and had spent most of his fifty-six years on the battle field. Conchobhair had spent a few months on the road with Ravenskill and his tales of greate battles intrigued him. However, it was not until Fergus told him of his encounter with a blue dragon that Conchobhair decided to make a life change. He asked Fergus to train and teach him everything that the older warrior knew. He spent six years training with Fergus in the ways of a seasoned warrior and even took positions as mercenaries for a few of the larger cities in the area.

One fateful day brought Fergus and Conchobhair face to face with a Red Dragon. This was a dragon that Fergus had encountered some twenty years prior, in which Fergus had injured it by blinding it in one eye. The dragon was bent on seeking his revenge and the opportunity presented itself. Fergus died in the attack, suffering multiple burns from the blazing breath weapon and Conchobhair escaped with minor burns and wounds. It was on this day that he vowed to destroy any dragon that presented a threat to the Realms and to find the dragon that killed his friend and mentor.

The Life and Loves of Jet'Laya: A Memoir

Excerpt:

Being of noble birth Jet'Laya's "uncle" Lennan went out into the world seeking adventure. Upon his journey he meet and had his life saved a few times by Jet'Laya's furture father, Torvin. After traveling together for some time and becoming close friends, her father and "uncle" returned to Cormanthor. Once in the city, Lennan introduced Torvin to his father, a wealthy and powerful noble. Being quite impressed with Torvin and being thankful for his actions of courage- saving Lennan's life- he fought to get Torvin accepted into the city. He was successful, and Torvin quickly became liked by most; eventually falling in love with Jet'Laya's mother, who was one of Cormanthor's healers. Their marriage was looked down upon by several members in the society, forcing them to live near the edge of the forest.

When Jet'Laya and her twin brother were six, Cormanthor was attacked by a group of undead, led by a young brash Vampire. She and her brother were hidden in safety, while the elves defended the city. The entire group of attackers were killed, however the elves also incurred several casualties, including Jet'Laya's parents. Her older sister was never found and presumed dead as well. Seeing her parents killed was a constant source of nightmares for Jet'Laya, and she vowed revenge for her parents death upon all undead. Despite the best efforts of her Uncle Lennan and her twin brother, who seemed less affected by his parents deaths, she could not be swayed from her path and left as soon as her training, as she called it, was complete.
