This seems to come up every now and then, and since I've already made my decisions and see no reason to keep them secret; here we go. Please excuse the excessive parentheses:

 

For the purposes of this mod, I have decided that Haer'Dalis father was an elf (an elf living in Sigil, mind you, so he has no knowledge about the elves of Faerûn except for what he's picked up since he arrrived), and his mother a (mostly human) tiefling of unspecified demonic (chaotic, that is) lineage. Haer'Dalis suspects that the demon in question was a succubus, and probably at least four or five generations back. He doesn't particularly care about his heritage.

 

He grew up in Sigil, his demon blood hasn't caused him a lot of trouble (not because people in Sigil are more tolerant, but because they're too busy discriminating against the tieflings who smell bad, spontaneously burst into flames or go on murderous rampages to care about the ones who look a bit funny). During his stay on the material plane he has chosen to focus on the "exotic creature from another plane" part and keep silent about the "my great-great-grandmother was irredeemably evil" bit.

His father was an elf, he said that himself, why couldn't his mother be an elven+demonic tiefling? Half-elven? Talking about me - I see humans every day all around. Bo-ring, bo-ring! I wouldn't wish my wonderful bird to be any way close to them... He is SO-O exotic, so sweet, so... elven ... dark... no planar drow anywhere?

And keep in mind that even though he has human ancestors, tieflings are considered a separate race. One of his grandparents might have been human (or they might not; the human part, just like the demon part, could very well be several generations back), but Haer'Dalis is not.

 

(and now that you've brought it up: having a main character who thinks that it's the human part that's the Unholy Taint that should not be mentioned would be kind of fun... )

Sure! As always - I'll just take the released MOD when it is done and change everything I wish in the texts for myself. I hope, we'll get a WeiDu version? (just easier... )
