That little age gap and races

Does Aklon ever address the fact that he's nearly old enough to be the PC's father, at least if she's also human? I know this comes up in the Angelo romance and I think in the Keldorn one too. Now I think both those guys are older than Aklon so maybe that's not even a consideration to him. Actually, given the whole scene in ToB regarding the PC's mother trying to sacrifice her as a baby and Sarevok, who is human, being a little boy already means technically even the long lived race PCs are only like 20. Which would make them kids, and suddenly romancing an elven PC becomes gross. Magic! Bhaals blood accelerated their aging. Or something. Okay, I've over thought this one....

Also, as far as I remember there are no race restrictions for the romance. Does the coding somehow track this? Because I remember reading at least one flirt where they walk with his arm around her waist. Difficult if she's a halfling etc. Not that I have ever played a short race, but that might be immersion breaking to someone who does.

And now i will try to stop flooding the forum with my posts. Another reason to finish the mod soon! You'll get rid of me. :D

It's nice to see people are still interested in Aklon and some of these minutiae of his interactions. I'm trying not to spoil too much, so hopefully I'll have him in everyone's hands so they can find out on their own.

The age difference does come up in conversation, though it's not something Aklon himself brings up. As far as he's concerned, the Bhaalspawn is a grown woman (handwaving like Bioware did for those long lived races) and that's the important thing for a start.

The Bhaalspawn's race is tracked in the romance, and there are some different flirts and interactions for the various races, including humans. Some of that is involved in making things logically possible, but some if it's for colour as well.

Indeed, and probably more than you think. Go, BigRob, go! :)

And on-topic (kind of), for an elven PC it also goes the other way round: What will be when he is very old and she, well, a bit older.

I'm waiting for Aklon, too - call me evil, but I'd love to see psychological implications of what happens if you have a char in the party who is literally your slave(unlike Sarevok/Irenicus, who just swore an oath).

As for the lifespan gap, I believe there are some rather romantic solutions: Domi's, for example, allowed Kivan and PC to live as one soul and die on the same day(his years were added to hers and sort of divided by two). Or they may treat it as a temporary separation, since they will be joined again beyond the veil, or something. Also, depending on D&D edition, monks do not feel effects of old age as other classes do - they still die of old age, but Aklon's mind and virility will not wither.

It's more sad if they choose to worship different deities, or deities from different pantheons - if so, their afterlives may greet them with a big "whoops" and a permanent separation. But then again, if Charname is elven, one can argue that she can simply petition the gods to grant Aklon(or any other non-elven love interest) a place next to her in Arvandor simply because her lover helped in saving Suldanessellar. Unless, um, the said lover is Chaotic Evil Sarevok. :)

Thanks for the support Jastey, I'll try to get along at more than a hobble. :D

That area has not gone unconsidered in the age-gap talk. The same is also true of a dwarf, since they can live up to five centuries if I remember my maximum age tables right.

Keeping him actively enslaved will result in a very different experience, and I hope an interesting one. He won't be up for quite as much friendly banter, as you might expect, but I'm trying to keep it all from being doom and gloom.

That Diamond Body skill has to be good for something, after all. And if the Bhaalspawn is a priest or mage, then there are direct magical solutions she might apply. It's something you'll have to discuss with him.

They could always let her have a small back room in Sigil somewhere if they don't want crazed murderbeasts wandering the halls.

The afterlife does come up too, though I've made that an area for more exploration in ToB than in SoA. There's always the possibility of visiting if their respective deities are of similar alignment or friends. This may present a bit of a problem though, since Aklon starts out without a patron deity...
