Guest Guest
In the description of the buckler it says you can use it together with ranged weapons like bows and crossbows but when you try that BG complains about a two handed weapon . Could you make it work like in the description? Link to comment
Idobek
No, sorry, can't be done--hardcodedness. Link to comment
Domi
can you change bucklers to go into the weapon's slot as opposite to going to the offhand, but still give ac bonus? Link to comment
jester
Perhaps you could make a one-handed bow and a dagger that looks like a buckler per animation. This workaround would only be for that specific item combination however. Link to comment
CamDawg
If you change the item type of a buckler to a weapon then it'll be equippable in the weapon slots. The bigger question is why? edit: Forgot about the animation. It may cause crashes because the paperdoll and/or avatar may not support a primary-hand buckler animation. This is also the problem with trying to make crossbows one-handed. Link to comment
Andyr
I may have a solution. Make bows one - handed weapons, and remove buckler animations. This way you could use them together, and trying to use a real shield with one would be impossible still (as the animation would crash the game). Link to comment
CamDawg
Flagging a crossbow as one-handed will get you a crash to desktop as soon as you equip bolts. Link to comment
Andyr
Oh, I didn't know that. Hmm. Link to comment
Domi
Tough! I guess we'd have to settle for bracers Link to comment
NiGHTMARE
You could always make an item called "bow & buckler", which functions in exactly the same as a normal bow except it grants you an AC bonus... EDIT: oh, of course the buckler wouldn't be visislbe on your character, but then you have to ask yourself whether you'd prefer the AC, or the animation . Link to comment
Domi
Well, you can simply add an AC bonus to bow... BTW, does proficiency in 2 handed weapons gives bonuses to missile lanchers? Link to comment
Domi
could that be done? or have a separte proficiency... er... *defensive archery* that improves your bow/crossbow skills and gives you AC bonuses? Link to comment
Guest Guest
This makes sense. In my (RL) experience it is possible to use a bow with a small shield, and quite nice as archers are so vulnerable! I don't know much about coding, but I would love to see this implemented somehow. Link to comment
