Where is Exotic Weapon

Im just started and put four point into Katana, (because i am Kensai and want dual mage on 12 level, as far as i know best weapon for that dual is Dackon Blade in BG2), and i want to find some katana even unenchanted because my THACO awful, probably i have some kind of bug, cause smith in Beregost doesnt have anything Exotic.

The component only adds three katanas, one of which is cursed. They can be found in the encounter by the dryad's tree on the way to the gnoll fortress, at the Firewine ruins, and one shortly before the last battle with Sarevok.

I have a question regarding the cursed katana. The description makes is sound quite intriguing while the cursed aspect of it lends me pause to want to wield it (the purpose I'm sure). But my question is this: the description says there's a "Chance" for bad stuff to happen, but what kind of chance (%-wise) and how frequently is that checked (every turn, every day)?

 

... oh and apologies if this is already documented somewhere...

Heh, it's not documented or spelled out by design to try and tempt folks to use it. But bad things will result in 1/3 attacks, so there's your fair warning.
