Conflicting weapon proficiency update with BG2 Tweak Pack

Hello, great mod you got here. I've been enjoying my playthrough of BGT so far.

I noticed that weapon descriptions for weapons that have had their proficiencies modified were showing duplicates:

Damage type: slashing
Weight: 2
Speed Factor: 1
Proficiency Type: Katana/Wakizashi/Wakizashi

After doing some digging I found that Item Revisions: Weapon Changes component modifies these descriptions as does BG2 Tweak Pack: Rebalanced Weapon Proficiencies components. The tweak pack will replace any old proficiency text with the new proficiency text. So Katana becomes Katana\Wakizashi. It doesn't know that the description had already been changed by IR. This incompatibility isn't mentioned in either of the mod's readme's. I wasn't sure if this should be in the BG2 Tweak pack forum as well. Actually now that I think about it these two components probably shouldn't have been installed together so maybe this belongs in SHS BWS forum.

This should probably be mentioned on the BG2Tweaks forum, as that mod will be installed after IR and is therefore in a position to fix this. It should be super easy to add an extra line to BG2Tweaks:

  ...REPLACE_TEXTUALLY ~Katana/Wakizashi/Wakizashi~ ~Katana/Wakizashi~
(Unfortunately I haven't seen CamDawg around lately so who knows if/when this could be addressed.)

On the other hand I hardly think a small mistake in the description text rates as an "incompatibility." Both components do similar things, and you can avoid this by choosing not to install both. But they are not identical and some people (like me) use both. I don't think BWS needs to flag them as incompatible.

This will happen for more than just Katana and Wakizashi's however. For example Mace/Morningstar/Morningstar also appears. I don't think it happens for anything else. I can at least put this in the BWS forum so they can add a conflict between these two components.

Also, @subtledoctor, BG2 Tweaks should be installed before IR's global components.

Wait, what? I just heard that you're supposed to install SCS before BG2Tweaks... now you're dying BG2Tweaks before IR?? (Which components are the "global" ones?)

But mustn't one install IR before SCS? Have we (using term broadly) created an unsolvable loop?

No.

The install order HAS to be IR's primary component, BG2Tweakspack, IR's other components, and then SCS. And do not install the IR's component that do almost the same thing as the BG2Tweaks components to items but do not actually do it the same way. This actually makes it so the IR can be installed before it, after it, without it, duh.

Only cheaters prefer to install the Bg2Tweaks after the SCS as then SCS can't use the Thac0 & Spell tables the BG2Tweak uses. Or they don't know the fact that the SCS uses the currently in use tables.

I agree, that's what always seemed natural and right to me. In fact I literally designed my mod around this assumption, so that it can slot in between BG2Tweaks and SCS. But just yesterday an ALIEN (who works on the BWS) told me that:

According to BiG World Project install order, BG2Tweaks comes after Stratagems

So, maybe someone should let the BWS/BWP people know that they've got it wrong... or let ME know!

I don't think it's that, but the fact that it brings other worse things to the table. Besides, if you make a proper megamod, you get one of the other mods that bring their own rule tables to the game already before the SCS is installed, and then the player can install a ruleset they prefer to their own chars.

But the BWP's install order was set to this status before the SCS brought the table reading to itself, so... the alteration could rise the kind of zombies you have never seen before. so changing it will be a serious business, and not for the lighthearted.

I did that around a year ago. I don't know if they changed it. In all, at worst you'll see a few fighters not having pips in weapon they use and AI casters would use slightly different tables for spell memorization, minor differences in THAC0 or similar, depending on what components one has installed. Most people probably won't notice a thing.
