Version 10 of the Baldur's Gate II Tweak Pack Released

The BG2 Tweak Pack is a WeiDU compilation of fixes, cosmetic changes, and tweaks. Some of these were fan requests, others are needed fixes, and others simply make dealing with the more irritating aspects of the game engine easier. Each component can be installed separately so the player can pick and choose only which ones they wish to install. Version 10 features numerous bug fixes, one new component, and compatibility updates for the newly released Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition.

v10 Changelog:

  • Compatibility updates to work with BGEE
  • A lot of code was streamlined with lessons learned from IWD Tweaks, a new function library, and new WeiDU functions
  • Altered the greater werewolf item in Shapeshifter Rebalancing to close an HP exploit
  • Compatibility updates:
    • For compatibility, the Multiple Strongholds variants no longer prevent the stronghold variable from being set
    • Avatar Morphing Script and Change Avatar When Wearing Robes or Armor (Galactygon) no longer install if Smart Avatar & Armour Switching from One Pixel Productions is installed
    • Faster Chapter 1&2 Cut-Scenes & Dreams is now skipped if BGt or Imoen Romance are installed due to compatibility problems
    • A copy of the Book of Infinite Spells created by BG2 Fixpack was not being patched by Sellable Items
    • Triple-Class HLA Tables component was relying on the presence of Fixpack code, and is now independent
    • The Higher HP on Level Up component will now check for and work with the barbarian HP table added by TobEx
    • Remove Helmet Animations will no longer conflict with the wing animation from One Pixel Productions

[*]Went through and purged tra files of old and deprecated strings

[*]The armor list used by the Allow Stealth and Thieving Abilities in Heavy Armor per P&P and Arcane Spellcasting in Armor components was rebuilt with a lot of help from a new tool and the community. It's now used by Icon Improvements as well to determine ground icons

[*]Two-Handed Bastard Swords, Two-Handed Katanas were recoded to generate their patch list on the fly.

[*]Allow Stealth and Thieving Abilities in Heavy Armor per P&P was recoded with lessons learned from IWD Tweaks; namely unarmored bonuses are now granted.

[*]Wear Multiple Protection Items now generates its patch list on the fly

[*]Higher HP on Level Up is a little more robust, a little more compact

[*]Add Save Penalties for Spells Cast by High-Level Casters (BETA) now uses the updated version from IWD Tweaks and no longer patches spells w/o saves.

[*]Allow Stealth and Thieving Abilities in Heavy Armor per P&P and the Change Experience Point Cap: Remove Completely components now extend the bard pickpocket tables and ranger stealth abilities to eventually cap at 200, instead of their current 99

[*]BG1 walking speeds was missing Aerie since she starts as an ogre (this really should pick up polymorphs/avatar changes, but no one uses this component anyway)

[*]Added the Fix Boo's Squeak component, something I've been meaning to do forever

[*]Avatar Morphing Script no longer leaves an unnecessary script in the override

[*]Fixed pink highlight outline for elven chain in Icon Improvements

[*]Hakt and Maneira had ranged weapons equipped, so Exotic Items now swaps their melee weapon instead of making them dual-wielders

[*]Added winter wolf pelts to Gem/Jewelry stacking

[*]Fixed some misindexed creature files in the Improved Athkatlan City Guard that could cause compatibility problems

[*]The Add Bags of Holding component was adding an ammo belt to the wrong store, which was not actually used in game

[*]Make Khalid a Fighter-Mage was not installing correctly for Tutu games

[*]Allow Cromwell to Upgrade Watcher's Keep Items had a couple of bad branches in his dialogue that are fixed

[*]Some of the descriptions in Description Updates for Make +x/+y Weapons Consistent Component were using THACO instead of THAC0 in their descriptions

[*]Unlimited stacking components are now capped at 999, which should still be more then enough

Thanks for your work on this indispensable project. Curious how it could work with BGEE, I thought that was a ways off from release?

Anyway, this caught my attention:

Make Khalid a Fighter-Mage was not installing correctly for Tutu games

I installed this with Version 9 of the BG2 Tweaks for my EasyTutu game and as far as I can tell, it is working fine. Is this a time bomb waiting to blow up my current game?

Oh, I completely forgot to answer the second part of the post, sorry. I was a beta tester so I had a pretty good idea of how BGEE would be set up--the good news is that since almost all of the Tweak pack was written to be universal most of it worked without changes.

Now, it's actually had no testing on BGEE proper, so I am expecting some hiccups.

Thanks so much for updating this so quickly! I'm excited to get it installed, but I've run into some trouble.

I've gone through all the steps here to get weidu working in Win 7 with BG:EE, and v10 starts up fine now. I get through the show components list, and it lets me respond to the first option in a given set of components, then crashes. For example, the first time I asked to see the cosmetic changes. It let me say yes to installing remove helmet animations (which it installed successfully), but the program crashed when trying to initiate the Imoen avatar options. I reloaded and skipped cosmetic changes; in content changes, I declined more interjections, but it crashed before giving me a chance to respond to alt HP triggers. Several attempts later and this happens consistently. It seems to occur when trying to install components specific to BG2 and BGT. I've never had any trouble skipping non-applicable tweaks when installing with Tutu, but I'm not sure how to work around it for BG:EE. Is there something I can do to make it skip the options that crash the installer?

Thanks!

The odd thing is that the components you mention should be skipped by the installer for a BGEE install.

Does your game directory have an override folder?

I had created an override folder manually, and the tweak pack added a bunch of files to it when it first installed remove helmet animations.

But! When I went to confirm that I had an override folder, I think I figured it out--looks like I misunderstood the meaning of "game directory." I'd first put the tweak pack setup file, the override folder, and the dialog.tlk hard link in the directory with the .exe (isn't that where setup went for Tutu?). I moved override folder etc to the same folder as chitin.key, and everything seems to be working smoothly now.

Thanks so much for the speedy reply!

Hi,

I got BGEE the other day and installed your mod (works perfectly ^^) but I was wondering if you could (and if you would be able/allowed to) add the component 'Restore BG2 portrait for <insert_NPC>'? I miss those portraits and I don't have a clue about how to change them manually in this new edition (ShadowKeeper does not seem to be a solution).

Thanks.

EDIT: found out on the BGEE forums how to change the NPCs portraits. Shame that I don't have the same quality for those portraits :(

Great to see the release of v10, but it seems one change that was to be included is missing. :( After aVENGER made the 9.03 preview, I proposed this. aVENGER agreed on it and I waited for it to be included in the preview, but nothing happened (at least not publicly). Now I wasn't able to check the forums in the last couple of days to maybe post a reminder when 9.07 happened, and now it seems it was forgotten. :(

Updated russian translation ;)

Thanks, I've got this for v11.

Meh, there's no need to remove it. I've added the same checks so it won't be presented if the BGT version is already installed.

On my BG:EE "Allow Arcane Spellcasting in Armor" seems not to work. Other mods like remove helmet, infinite stacks etc. works but with Spellcasting while wearing Full Plate (without shield) I get 100% misscast. The mod worked fine on BG TuTu. It might be issue with my mod installation on BG:EE but since I got no errors from Setup and other mods work fine and I still can try casting spells, I doubt it.

Keep up the great work, and thanks for those mods.
