  1. As a "modern-day luddite", I somehow find this quite comforting.
  2. That doesn't seem fair. I remember that when this mod came out Jastey was the one who worked on it with Lauriel, helped her code it and shared components between their mods. Would she have done that if she minded the "competition"?
  3. Assuming it does indeed still work, you have BG1 NPC's component covering exactly that - the smarter and less convenient option. I suppose the design philosophy differences between the two could be more clearly stated.
  4. Sorry, Chaotic Good here. My concern wasn't about the letter but the spirit of the law, and I still think it's absurd that we as a community (because let's face it, that's the ultimate instance here: nobody is going to launch an IP lawsuit against an obscure, non-profit mod for a 25 year old game) have apparently decided that collecting real art from the internet is bad but using AI to do it is somehow alright. That's the last I'll say here - sorry for derailing your thread. I just wanted to put in my two pennorth.
  5. Well, if I was an artist, I'd still much rather have my work included by someone in a non-profit mod, even without prior request or referencing, than have it scrounged up, mangled by AI and thus effectively stolen as well, just without the chance of recognition. Of course the gold standard would be a mod in which every artist received proper recognition, but the threat of AI seems far more grave to me, and it would be supremely ironic if, on copyright grounds, an AI portrait mod was permitted whilst one using real art isn't.
  6. Isn't it such a shame to use AI when there's so much wonderful real art out there? You know, the sad thing is that there was a portrait mod for BGT which had (what I think are) much better-fitting portraits than PPE overall, but it has been discontinued due to copyright concerns. At least the old way of picking art from across the internet willy-nilly gave some visibility to real people behind it! And maybe for a new version it would even be feasible to try and contact some of the artists behind it? I'm sure most would be delighted to allow use of their work. Now, I understand that copyright is important for artists and all, but I do think that as a community we should ask ourselves whether AI isn't far, far worse than copyright infringements for the future of artists. It seems to me a supreme irony that due to the bureaucratic fears surrounding copyright we can't use work from real artists, but we can use the anonymised Frankenstein creations AI cobbles up from countless samples of their work.
  7. I just realised that with the way the finale of SoD has basically made this old mod epilogue scene canon, it might be possible to finally port the Dynaheir Romance over from Tutu to EET, no? Of course, there would still be the issue of missing romance content throughout SoD, but the ending would seem to line up almost perfectly.
  8. No, I think SCS had its own version, but the personalised one used to be in BG1 NPC. And I agree that less customisability is more in this case. Shame the component was discontinued. It's a nice little personal touch that all of them had their favourite spots then: EDIT: I see it has since been re-added to BG1 NPC, albeit with an ominous warning of not having been tested on EE yet. Otherwise that would be a solution to your problem, OP.
  9. Maybe I'm misremembering, but the old component (BG1 NPC? BGT?) spread them out quite nicely across the Friendly Arm. Could that not be ported?
  10. Totor's version should be accepted by EET, going by the .tp2. But it should still be installed before Endless BG1 as Jastey noted above, so not too late either.
  11. Do you think it would be better to install it on BG before EET or early on after EET with other BG1 mods such as BGQE? EDIT: Nevermind, I found some advice saying that it has to go after BG1 NPC, so I surmise the second option it is.
  12. This is a meta question which occured to me after noting some mods switching from game time to real time with more recent updates. Obviously real time seems to be considered the gold standard. Is this merely because it corresponds to the way banters are handled in vanilla or is there another, conceptual reason for this? To me, at first thought game time seems almost preferable, as it would do away with the issue of cascading comments from chatty characters covered in blood at the end of a long fight.
  13. I see your point, but on the other hand the "see tomorrow" clearly represents an afterthought occurring to Xan as he muses on his chances to uncover the plot, so it makes sense for it to come last. If you wanted to change it, I suggest "That is, if I even live to see tomorrow" or a pithy " - or even tomorrow".
  14. Ah, and here I was hoping we would finally get to face him (or at least his attempt to foil our plans). The first time I played through the game I 100% expected him to be the final antagonist and was convinced I had missed something when he never turned up again after that chat in the Pocket Plane. Mentions are something, too, though. He gets some in Reunion as well, I think. So maybe he's just that good at intrigue that he actually is behind everything, but manages to stay hidden in the background nonetheless.
  15. Really excited to give this a try! Going by the title, I imagine we can expect some involvement from a certain divine usurper? I always thought it was a missed opportunity that the only mod appearance he makes is in Romantic Encounters, of all places!
