free ftp-space

(I did not search before posting, because I want to have the up-to-date information.)

 

For pre-releases of my mod I am in need of a free, relaible, spam-free (etc.) ftp-space. I never used one before, so I would like to draw on your experience. What would you recommend? Is there anything I have to consider?

You might want to check with your Internet provider. I know that our account comes with six of 20 megs of download spaces by default.

I didn't include BWL because J was a staffer over there and burnt bridges while leaving the position.

 

Of course, at BWL they are more willing to offer space also for illegal activities like circumventing the CD check or offering a whole game for download, if you want to do such things.

Or call on friends (*cough* cmorgan *cough* berelinde ) to provide temporary scratch space - I think mine has a limit of 8 or 9 mb for individual file upload, but a gig of space for storage.

 

Temporary is defined as owner of said site is alive and paying for site... so in game terms, practically forever.

 

(This reminds me - someone has a full rip of all materials from Dudleyville archived, right, for the eventual day it disappears? I must have asked this before, but have forgotten).

Taking the fakt that Rosenranken lifted the ban it seems I am not in such a big need for ftp-space than I thought.

 

(CamDawg: Rosenranken offers me ftp-space, but not for free upload, i.e. I have to ask an admin to do it and since Rosenranken IP banning was the reason for my inquiry the RR ftp-space didn't really help.)

 

Still, having an own ftp-space would be very comfortable. I tend to update testversions quite often, so having own access thus being able to upload myself would be something I'd rather want to have.

If you want administration upload and maintenance abilities, I can always set you up with passwords on my own site, as long as the mod doesn't get more than about a thousand downloads a month.
