System Win Vista, UAC – off,

BGII+Tob+patch 26498

 

(a) “Restrict fighter/druids from armors single class druids cannot wear†sub component fails to install, if chosen separately (no other components / sub components, except for “List party-joinable NPCsâ€, were chosen).

(b) But, in combination with “allow cleric/rangers one star in ranger weapon types (1for all weapons)†sub component, “Restrict fighter/druids from armors single class druids cannot wear†sub component is successfully installed.

It works for me if I install it with only the main component. I'll need you to uninstall it, try to reinstall it with the option that failed, then post the resulting SETUP-LEVEL1NPCS.DEBUG text file.

 

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall but ended with same results. Unfortunately, I have decided to start all over, so I have uninstalled the game. BUT, I still have DEBUG file for the (a) variant.

Unfortunately, that log doesn't help much since it just says you installed both components successfully. If you get it to fail again, that DEBUG will help. But I will try to replicate it with the BG2 Tweaks component - that narrows down the potential conflict at least.

I think that I was a bit unclear in the first post, sorry. When I wrote that subj. had failed to install, I meant that it had been installed successfully (at least it was written so in DEBUG) BUT it had NO effect on game. Of course I started a new one. Picked up Jaheira and noticed that she was able to wear splint mail and helmets (but she should not).

Now I write my chain of actions:

  1. I had next mods installed (BG2FixPack,BG2Tweaks,RR,aTweaks,UB,WideScreen). Their order, installed sub components are listed in my WeiDU log.
  2. I installed Level 1NPC
    2.1 Nythrun's Level 1 NPCs: List party-joinable NPCs;
    2.2 Tweak weapon proficiencies for some classes (a la Ashes of Embers and aVENGER's Rogue Rebalancing): v1.6.
  3. In 2.2 I only opted for “Restrict fighter/druids from armors single class druids cannot wearâ€.
  4. Started new game, picked up Jaheira, but she still was able to wear metal armor and helmets!
  5. Tried reinstall, uninstall and reinstall – nothing helped.
  6. Decided to install (previously uninstalled Level1NPC) “allow cleric/rangers one star in ranger weapon types (1for all weapons)†in combination with “Restrict fighter/druids from armors single class druids cannot wear†and ‘tadadada daaaam’ – everything worked like a charm. Jaheira could not wear helmets and metal armor.

I hope this could help a bit.

Ok, that was a bit more helpful. This was (again) a bug I could reproduce with just L1NPCs by itself and (again) involved missing code.

 

The long ACTION_IF line before the PRINT @200021 needs an OR (sda = 1) inserted somewhere within it. If that doesn't mean anything to you, don't worry, it shouldn't (just means I fixed it and a new version should be available presently). The workaround for now is as you discovered, just install some other tweak in addition to the druid armour tweak.

 

@erik - I'll take a case of that stuff right about now, if you're offering...

 

Note that druids can wear helmets in the unmodded game, so this just restricts fighter/druids from metal armour. If someone feels strongly about a separate druid helmet tweak, I will grudgingly consider it (since I appear to be on a masochistic streak). But I suspect it's already in some other mod (Tweaks, IR, Full Plate), no?

IR has a component that prevents druids from wearing helmets. It also has a fighter/druid armor restriction component, which limits fighter/druids to using armour, shields, and helmets that druids can use.

Then I guess I won't code in further redundancy. This component already gets skipped if IR's component is installed.
