Graoumf
There are problems with old links posted in forums, as in this thread: http://gibberlings3.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=11106&page=4&do=findComment&comment=145746 When I click on the the link, it redirects on forums' page. But if I replaced the link by the new url format, it works. The old link: http://forums.gibberlings3.net/index.php?showtopic=14724 http://forums.gibberlings3.net/index.php?showtopic=14724 ----------------- If I replaced forums.gibberlings3.net by www.gibberlings3.net/forums, it works: http://www.gibberlings3.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=14724 http://www.gibberlings3.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=14724 Link to comment
Jarno Mikkola
There are problems with old links posted in forums,It's the same thing as what Kulyok reported in this thread already... and it's in the forums download thread links too, and signature links to profiles etc etc etc. ... it's just that it's likely to take us offline to do the update and admin time managing issue probably too, so if you can sort the problem you should, and mean while help other people. Well, or just be a jerk like me and point the fact... Happy old year, been through it already and there were too few explosions and too much "peace". Link to comment
Magus
Geez, a month and a half and it's still not fixed? It's a 10 minutes work, for chrissake. Link to comment
Mike1072
As a temporary solution, we've updated all links on the main site to point to the URLs where pages are currently located. Link to comment
Magus
I'll be imprudent and say - f*ck the icon, fix the goddamn links already. It really looks like as if someone deliberatey tries to kill off the forums (maybe to get folks to move to beamdog or whatever) Link to comment
Jarno Mikkola
... the icon, fix the goddamn links already. Erhm, you probably have a very different experience than I do, and you are not saying what that is, so please elaborate. See, I have no problems with any links in the forum, so. Link to comment
lynx
Remember the last downtime? The link mask/pattern/base changed then and nobody bothered to fix it (changing it back or linking). So bookmarks were invalidated, search engine rankings plummeted and maybe more. All from crappy hosting. Link to comment
Mike1072
I'll be imprudent and say - f*ck the icon, fix the goddamn links already. It really looks like as if someone deliberatey tries to kill off the forums (maybe to get folks to move to beamdog or whatever) I previously went through the website and updated all the links to get them working again. Old links from other sources may still be broken. To my knowledge, the only person who has access to fix the root problem is SConrad and neither he nor Kaeloree have responded to the messages theacefes sent regarding the issue. The best I can do is to try messaging them again. Edit: theacefes informs me that SConrad & Kaeloree are on vacation and she will reach out to them once they're back. Link to comment
theacefes
Looks like we're back! Thanks to SConrad for taking the time to rebuild the server and get us back up and running. Link to comment
JediMindTrix
Yay! What exactly happened anyway? Link to comment
Jarno Mikkola
Yay! What exactly happened anyway? According to SConrad, the server hosting the G3 and SHSforums had 2 hard drive failures, and they had to be replaced. That happens at times... But thanks for organizing the file data at the beamdogs site during the sites absence. Link to comment
JediMindTrix
Yikes! And you're welcome Link to comment
