IWDification & Spell Revision

Installing IWDification after SR is advised. You might see duplicates of spells SR also adds unless you comment them out in one of the mods. Sunscorch is the only spell I know is in both.

 

@CamDawg: If IWDification switches to the standardised spell.ids naming system (CLERIC_SPELL_NAME or WIZARD_SPELL_NAME instead of IWD_SPELL_NAME), the case of duplicate versions of the same spell should be handled automatically by the ADD_SPELL command once other mods switch to the same system (see explanation of pipe dream here).

Installed it today on my BGT game. Other than the differently styled icons sticking out like a sore thumb, no issues so far. Dying to try out Vitriolic Sphere, I tried making that one myself but could never get the secondary splash damage right. (My last attempt wiped out half of the population of Beregost.) :-)

Thanks Cam for the list. I've added it along with a slew of other updates. See the updated list here.

 

I didn't change anything, just noticed one inconsistency. There are two similar 4th level priest spells CLERIC_STAR_METAL_CUDGEL and CLERIC_ADAMANTITE_MACE. I am aware that IWD uses Star Metal Cudgel that is inspired by the AD&D spell Adamantite Mace, which is a 4th level priest spell included in vol 1 p.12 of the Priest's Spell Compendium. I use Adamantite Mace in my own mod while you understandibly use the IWD name. For now I have placed both on the list as separate entries so that means a user may potentially end up with a spell duplicate.

 

Do you think it's fine like this or should one of us concede and switch an IDS name? I personally prefer sticking to AD&D source material but at the same time changing around the names can cause trouble (in mod conversions?) that I'm not aware of and this could also take away from the "authenticity" of an IWDification.

Hi CamDawg.

 

I really like your mod and would like to use the extra spells in BG2:EE. I also play with SR, however, and dislike duplicate spells with different effects.

What should I change in the .tp2 file to edit out specific spells and prevent them from installing?
