[Not an issue] Crash on new game after installing L1NPCs

For a while now I've been struggling with an issue with my current order of mods. I can't start a game because the it crashes halfway through loading after clicking 'New Game'. I finally narrowed down the culprit: it seems that all my mods work fine, but when I install Level1NPC, the crash occurs. Presumably something about the character creation changed by Level1NPC makes the game crash?

ToBEx returns the following error:

Shown like this in the ToBEx window:

Any ideas?

My Weidu.log is can be downloaded HERE.

Which component of the L1NPCs ?

Is this in BGT(bg1 candlekeep), or in BG2(irenicus dungeon) ?

You might have selected a character class that adds item to the characters they can't use due to a lack of animation or something to that effect ... if it's an NPC component, the finding out the reason for the crash is a bit tricky, we need the specifics of selected class and so on and so forth on the selected character(most likely the Imoen component), it's a maze of info that needs to be known, for us to reliably reproduce the crash, and then to find out what went wrong.

By the way, your original installation never included the cre fixer, which could possibly auto fix some of this sort of problems, if it's an item that wrongly placed to the inventory, or other such things. Nor any off the other dozen or so fixes that the Lolfixer is full off, innate_fix ...

No idea, I haven't installed the components one by one, then attempted a new game.

As can be seen from my Weidu.log, it's a BG2 install only. It crashes before entering the game; I click 'New Game', it loads halfway to enter character generation, then crashes.

I don't know any of those fixes, sorry. If you tell me what to do, I can do it.

From your Weidu - kick out "Paws can not be dispelled" Fixpack component.

- ditto "Tweak weapon proficiencies for some classes" level1NPCs component

See if it happens again.

I will try, thanks! I hope it isn't something with the weapon proficiency tweak, since I'm trying to get a very hard run through but with some modified classes. Namely Barbarian with grandmastery ability, dual classed to druid, and archer dualed to cleric. So I'm trying to allow clerics and druids one star in every weapon so my warrior proficiencies will stick after dualing.

The cre fixer. It's a normal weidu mod so you just install it.

That and the rest of the mods are actually in the rest BiG World Fixpack v14.0.2.7z -archive, and you might actually have them in the game folder after the fixpacks install, -or if that's not the truth, you have to copy paste the few setup-*fixname*.tp2 to your game folder and make a few copies of the weidu.exe as setup-*fixname*.exe, where the *fixname* is according to the mods setup-*fixname*.tp2 - ... yep, that's what you get from manual install, you have to read the entire 320++ page BiG World Project v14.0.pdf file and act accordingly, or memorize the few important parts.

It doesn't matter that you have the warrior weapon proficiencies if the weapon is not usable by the class, yeah, there are a few item usability revision mods, "the worst" of them is the Ashes of Embers, as it adds stat requirements, but allows usability, Also you might wish to have a mod that modifies the profmax.2da file ... to be something of this effect:
2DA V1.0
0
                       FIRST_LEVEL OTHER_LEVELS
MAGE 1 5
FIGHTER 2 5
CLERIC 1 5
THIEF 1 5
BARD 1 5
PALADIN 2 5
FIGHTER_MAGE 2 5
FIGHTER_CLERIC 2 5
FIGHTER_THIEF 2 5
FIGHTER_MAGE_THIEF 2 5
DRUID 1 5
RANGER 2 5
MAGE_THIEF 1 5
CLERIC_MAGE 1 5
CLERIC_THIEF 1 5
FIGHTER_DRUID 2 5
FIGHTER_MAGE_CLERIC 2 5
CLERIC_RANGER 2 5
SORCERER 1 5
MONK 2 5

As this allows your kits to dictate the maximum scores and not the classes.

But that's what Level1NPC does. In the explanatory text in the installer it says "allow clerics one star in any weapon a fighter can used - this is required to allow clerics to retain the ability to use the weapons its multi- or dual-class can use" or something to that effect :)

Can I install the .cre fixes without reinstalling?

And the other fixes too, yes.

Cool, I'll do that now then.

EDIT: By the way, are you saying I should use the BiG World Installer? I have nothing against trying that, I'm just more familiar with manual Weidu installation.

EDIT2: Wow, jesus christ. Is there an easy way to tell me what I need to do. I'm getting fairly lost in that huge .pdf honestly... most of it looks like mods I have no interest in installing, I have no idea what to look for and what to ignore.

It's just my opinion, but if you aren't installing a hundred mods at once, only 15-20 mods, just install the cre fixer and Level1NPCs as normal mods - that is, via weidu installation. The main bonus is, if you use manual installation and get into any trouble, the modders will likely be able to help you and your weidu.log. If you use the gigantic Big World Project and its manual, though, your only hope is likely the Megamod forum at SHS and its users - simply because Big World saved games don't open on 'normal' machines and are impossible to debug.

Still crashes - same crash.

Thanks Kulyok. Where do I find the cre fixer? I'm looking through the folders now.

EDIT: Oh wait, it's a mod. Nevermind. Installing now.

YEEEEEEEEEEEES :D

The Cre Fixer worked like a charm! Aweswome. Thanks everybody. Getting ready to reinstall everything to make sure everything is set up 100% properly. Any notes on where in my installation I should install the cre fixer, or can I put it anywhere in my install order? Looks like this right now (feel free to add suggestions for anything else I might be missing - I didn't even know the .cre fixer existed):

1) ToBEx

2) BWP Fixpack

3) BG2 Fixpack

4) 1PP v4.1

5) Imoen

6) Quest Pack

7) Wheels of Prophecy

8) Tower of Deception

9) Back to Brynnlaw

10) Assassinations

11) The Sellswords

12) Angelo Dosan

13) Ninde

14) The Longer Road

15) BG2 Unfinished Business

16) Rogue Rebalancing

17) Level 1 NPC

18) SCS II

19) BG2 Tweak

20) aTweaks

21) Item Randomizer

22) Banter Packs

23) Widescreen mod

Also: The BWP recommends Ascension, but that should be incompatible with this install, right?

Erhm it recommends the BP Ascension instead of the actual Ascension mod, this is due to compatibility and so forth fixes... you might not want to install the BP with the SCS. Yeah, don't use the SCS II, it's in the SCS mod actually.

Well you can install the BP's base component(not the AI enhancements) and the Ascension mod with the SCS, but the AI enhancements have a few things said about them in the pdf file.

And the BP's Ascension component is, tricky, as you then need actually install the cre fixer before the BP, and then install the lollorians fix pack that actually does the same thing among other things.

The crefixer is originally made to be installed last(#24 in the above order), well just before the Generalized Biffing(#25)...

And you will want to install the Generalized Biffing...
I think that's the exact mod which makes debugging those saved games impossible.
It just copies the override folder to the data folder and biff's it.

So no. It's the BiG World Clean up.bat in its past version is the one you are probably referring to that throws away the useful info that makes it impossible to uninstall anything nor actually debug the game ... the save games are harder to debug if you lack the resources to do so(read as, mods the other installed and their order, ... and the fact that some of the mods use random elements, where the game data cloning is the only reliable option, but the non exact copy due to weidu's randomization(item randomization) has never been shown to cause crashes outside the possible multiplayer game of two different game data bases), if the base function outside the randomization works ok.

It's unlikely that L1NPCs caused this on its own, but it appears some mod put a shield on a creature with a two-handed weapon or something like that. CRE Fixer fixes those things. Also, you can run Area CRE Checker if this kind of thing happens again. Start with e.g. ar0602 (the starting area in SoA) to narrow down which CRE was causing the issue.
