V2 Hotfixes (Outdated)

Recommended Posts

Attached at the bottom of this post are the hotfixes for the current version of Item Revisions. This is where you will find everything that we fix between mod versions. The files are arranged in the appropriate sub-folders, thus you can simply extract the files in the archive to your main BG folder (after you have extracted the full mod from the website there) - you will know if you've done it correctly if it asks about overwriting some of the older IR files in the item_rev folder. After the hotfixes have been extracted, IR can safely be installed.

Once again, these hotfixes require a fresh (re)install of IR in order for them to work.

Global Changes

Demon Lord Fix: the Demon Lord summoned by Matron Mother Ardulace during the Underdark's main quest was vulnerable to +3 weapons, but he was erroneously (imo) immune to +4 weapons, causing many players to believe they need +5 weapons to hit the creature. We've removed the immunity to +4 weapons making him vulnerable to +3 and better weapons just like "normal" Pit Fiends and Balors.

Free Action: all items that grants free action now protects from Otiluke's Resilient Sphere.

Revised Bows: reduce current +1 attack per round to +1/2, add missing damage granted by enhancement bonuses. More info here.

Items

Armor of the Hart: "hidden" AC bonuses changed to match full plate's ones, minor changes to its glowing effects.

Ashen Scale Armor: AC set to 2 instead of 1.

Ilbratha: blur effect should have been replaced by a translucent effect in V2.

Belm: it was still restricted to rangers.

Belt of Inertial Barrier: its main aura-like effect was using a wrong projectile.

Blade of Roses: it was still using its old V1 version.

Cleric's Staff: fixed an error which was causing damage to the wielder when equipping the staff.

Cloak of Mirroring: now effectively grants 50% miss chance (100% chance to trigger an image on each hit instead of 50%).

Crom Faeyr: "hybrid" couldn't be switched to melee-only version.

Defender of Easthaven: physical resistance correctly lowered from 20% to 10%.

Dragon Scale Shield: equipped abilities were erroneously set to "instant/limited" instead of "while equipped".

Gargoyle Boots: its stoneskin effect wasn't affected by breach.

Gauntlets of Healing: regeneration wasn't working.

Gauntlets of Power Attacks: removed -2 penalty to missile damage to prevent huge amount of missile damage in case of negative damage values. Damage is now applied directly via "melee hit damage bonus" opcode.

Helm of Resilience: "immunity to sleep" had a wrong timing mode.

Iron Horn of Valhalla: fixed duration to 5 turns instead of 1.

Ras: dancing duration raised from 4 to 10 rounds.

Ravager: its upgraded version had +1 hit/dmg more than it should.

Ring of Energy: was still erroneously using charges.

Robe of the Archmagi: various fixes to "Spell Penetrate" aura-like effect.

Spider Fang: acid damage reduced from 1D6 to 1D4.

Staff of Air: didn't match description at all as it worked as per V1 instead of as intend for V2.

Staff of Rynn: it was unusable by elves.

Components

Revised Bows: the respective changes are also included in the optional "weapon changes" component to patch any mod added bow.

Weapon Changes: compatibility update for Rogue Rebalancing and Tutu bows, and some minor code improvements

Armor Components: changed categorisation of some mod armours per player reports

Slashing Halberds: now adds tooltips more safely to prevent problems in megamod installs

Reported typos has been corrected

Reported missing bams are included here too

Creature animations for custom shield animations are now included (prevents skeleton CTD in BG1 portion of BGT)

Better detection has been added to determine which subcomponents should be skipped when someone is trying to install the mod on an unusual platform (e.g. vanilla BG1 or TotSC)

Missing Bams

I'll temporarily attach here bams that are missing in the current build (Vhailor's inventory & carried icon, Flail of Submission's main icon, Staff +3 and Gauntlets of Extraordinary Specialization). They'll be included in the next hotfix too, but as a standalone fix they don't require a re-install.

Just copy the files from the zip into your current override folder.

I've updated again the hotfix file with the latest fixes, and I've decided I'll "promptly" update the file whenever I fix a reported issue.

To avoid having to re-install IR many times I may suggest to update your installation only when strictly required, or when you're going to use one of the fixed items.

At players request I've implemented the programmed revision of bows via hotfix, and just that we were updating it we've added a little "fix" some players may like.

Happy Holiday. :(

This update adds to the previous hotfix version the following things:

Demon Lord 'Fix': the Demon Lord summoned by Matron Mother Ardulace during the Underdark's main quest was vulnerable to +3 weapons, but he was erroneously (imo) immune to +4 weapons, causing many players to believe they need +5 weapons to hit the creature. We've removed the immunity to +4 weapons making him vulnerable to +3 and better weapons just like "normal" Pit Fiends and Balors.

Free Action: all items that grants free action now protects from Otiluke's Resilient Sphere too.

Revised Bows: reduce current +1 attack per round to +1/2, add missing damage granted by enhancement bonuses.

Creature Animations for Custom Shield Animations

The hotfixes have been updated today to include creature animations for the new shield animations. This prevents a CTD with skeletons in the BG1 portion of BGT.

If you are running a game with Item Revisions' main component installed before today's hotfix was available, I recommend installing this fix for the issue. With this, you can avoid having to reinstall IR. Extract it into your BG directory and run setup-shield_fix.exe. It won't leave an entry in your WeiDU.log (but don't worry, it just adds missing files, doesn't replace anything).

I've fixed all (at least I hope so) issues reported till now:

- Staff of Air didn't match description at all as it worked as per V1 instead of as intend for V2

- Bracers of Archery missing damage bonus

- Gauntlets of Power Attacks causing an issue in case of very low missile damage

- Iron Horn of Valhalla fixed duration

- upgraded Ravager had +1 hit/dmg more than it should

- Cloak of Mirroring now effectively grants 50% miss chance (100% chance to trigger an image on each hit instead of 50%)

- Ashen Scale armor AC set to 2 instead of 1

- few typos corrected

Let me know if I clearly missed something!

I'm not fixing the "+1/2 cumulative apr issue" hardcoded behaviour but I'll do it for V3, either by changing the item or better with Taimon's exe patching which should fix it for us. ???

The hotfixes have now been updated to cover everything Demi mentioned in the previous post.

In addition to those changes, there have been some minor code updates. The Weapon Changes component should now be compatible with the bows added by Rogue Rebalancing, and it should also be a little more careful so it can keep chugging along after encountering abnormal items. Also, each mod component should now auto-detect the game environment it is being installed in and prevent its installation if the environment is one it likely won't work in.

The hotfixes have been updated today to fix a compatibility issue with the Slashing Halberds component. The component now adds to tooltip.2da more safely, so it will no longer screw things up if another mod has added additional columns to the file (like some of the big mods do).

The hotfixes have been updated today to fix a compatibility issue with SCSII's Move Vhailor's Helm, Robe of Vecna and Cloak of Mirroring components. SCSII skips those components assuming IR moves them in the same places, which is true only for the upcoming V3, but now V2 moves them too as requested.

Can't find the hotfix file attached here - any update on this? Thanks!
Ehm...the currently supported version is V3, and apparently I didn't enough space to upload V3 hotfixes without removing the outdated V2 ones. I could find send you V2 hotfixes via e-mail, but considering that to apply them you need to re-install the package you'd better off spend that re-install to update everything to V3. No? :)

I actually like the V2 version of most of the items much better than V3. We had a discussion about this a while back I think - I'm a big fan of the thrown/returning weapons (Boomerang Dagger, etc.), but you've nerfed most of them in V3. Treating the returning property as an "enchantment" ends up hurting them quite a bit, because while it does make them effective weapons, their down side is that they cannot be thrown with Belm/Kundane. So their damage output is already going to be dwarfed by any melee weapon with one of those in the off-hand. Lowering their enchantment power on top of this only compounds the problem and further puts them behind melee weapons in terms of damage/round.

Anyways I'll reach out via email, if you're still willing to send that would be great for me. Thanks!

Will do asap. :)

"Free Action: all items that grants free action now protects from Otiluke's Resilient Sphere."

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

not on self/friendly cast surely?

Oh my, I don't remember...I have to look into it. I think I can make it protect from the hostile version only though.
