Moinesse Avatars and Barbarian PC

Recommended Posts

I've recently installed Moinese Avatars, and I love what little I've seen so far...however; my protagonist is a barbarian and he still has a human fighters avatar. I thought maybe that particular one didn't work, but then I encountered an NPC barbarian that is exactly what I am looking for. I went into avatar morph script-no option for barbarian. I tried ShadowKeeper...no option for barbarian. Anyone know how I can get this to work on my PC?

Thanks in advance,

What game are you playing this on?

I ask because in IWD2, NPC barbarians use an animation that isn't available to PCs. It isn't paletted (changing the color selections will have no effect on the avatar), it doesn't have different versions for different armor grades, and I'm 60% sure that it will only accommodate a limited selection of weapons. If you're using Moinesse's Avatars on BG2, where are there any NPC barbarians?

Hmm. Maybe I should take a peek under the hood to look at what avatar is being assigned.

I don't remember any Smaeluv in any inns in Waukeen's Promenade. Is it possible that you are looking at mod-added content? Not that it makes a difference.

IIRC, the "barbarians" feature only affects unarmored barbarians and it gives them a headband and Viking-style braids.

I may be recalling his name incorrectly, but he was part of that group upstairs in The Seven Vales Inn. They had a dwarven fighter, a mage, a rogue with a wicked backstab, the mage familiar looks like a mephit, and IIRC his name is Pookah. The one I am referring to carried a +3 cursed 2hs. Maybe that will help. And no, Those guys were in the vanilla game as I played it waay back when, heh heh.

Smaeluv Orcslicer has a male halforc fighter animation. IIRC, that's the same as a human fighter in BG2, only the paperdoll (and usually palette colours) being different.

I forget offhand how this mod handles animations - I thought it overwrote the existing ones but maybe not for the barbarian. There is a revised version in Infinity Animations but you will need to set the barbarian animation on your PC manually. We have a BG1 component for PCs but not a Moinesse component for them - I don't think anyone's ever asked for it.

Thanks, Miloch. But I think I'm also understanding from what you said that even if I succeeded in manually changing the avatar, it still wouldn't work as a normal PC avatar in that armor upgrades wouldn't change it at all. It would always look the same. So, I guess I'll give up on a long haired barbarian PC for now, heh heh. Oh well, I can always dream.
