Installation Error - Novice User!

I've poured over the forum and cannot find the same error, so hopefully I'm not double-posting. When I try to install the mod I get this error:

 

ERROR Installing [bG2 Fixpack - Core Fixes], rolling back to previous state

Will uninstall 1 files for [bG2FIXPACK/SETUP-BG2FIXPACK.TP2] component 0

Uninstalled 1 files for [bG2FIXPACK/SETUP-BG2FIXPACK.TP2] component 0

ERROR: Failure <"SET_STRING out of range">

 

This is the only mod I've ever installed; I'm not very good at this sort of thing because I'm always afraid I will mess up the game entirely! Does anyone have an idiot version of how to help?

Is your game fully up to date with the latest patches?

Don't install Fixpack on EEs.

Open the setup-bg2fixpack.debug file with Notepad and copy the whole content to a post, I can't fully understand from the above what happened.

More like, you don't need the BG2Fixpack in the EE games, so it was made to not to be install-able on it.

I have BGEE on Steam. I had the fixpack on it before and it worked ok but had some weird item descriptions. Can the fixpack be completely removed altogether if it's not meant for EE games?

You shouldn't install Fixpack on any EE game; it's included by default.

v11 Beta 1 has better protections to prevent installation on stuff it shouldn't be installed on.
