A crash to desktop when visiting CC first time

Hi!

 

I recently installed Auren, crossmods, RE, Sarah, Allison and Ninafer. When entering the CC for the first time my pc crashes, and it seems to be the moment where Yoshi will greet me (I use DBG) and Auren and this boy from the moneylendingoperationINC.

 

Any idea?

Hmmm. At first, I was going to blame Ashes of Embers, but I note that you do not change Anomen's proficiencies, so that shouldn't be a problem.

 

It could be some kind of creature problem, or an item problem, or an area corruption.

 

1) Were you able to enter the CC before this current build? (Yes, I know, dumb question, but wait until you see #2!)

 

2) What did you change?

 

Of the mods on your install that might affect the CC, I see:

Ninafer, Auren, EBG2 (whatever that is - on my list here because I've never seen it before), Dungeon Crawl, and AoE.

 

I'm betting it isn't Auren, because she hasn't caused crashes yet.

I've got Dungeon Crawl on my own install, and that doesn't crash.

You haven't changed Anomen's proficiencies... but check his CREs anyway.

I haven't tried Ninafer yet, and I don't know what EBG2 is.

EBG2 is Enhanced Baldurs Gate which adds among others tomes to BG2. It's found at SHS, but I guess it's never got any official release.

The only new stuff to this build is Ninafer, Crossmods, Sarah, Allison, Auren. I never got any troubles here before those mods, and I suspect Allison or Ninafer. I used Auren in earlier builds without any such troubles.

How do I open a CRE file? Which one should I use?

Generally, the safest thing to do is let the modder sort it out.

 

You can use DLTCEP to examine a CRE, but fixing it is something else entirely. I don't have the technical ability to advise you, as I don't do much with them myself, apart from copying, naming, and every once in a while making up a new one with 12 quarterstaves and 999 onyx rings in inventory and three potions of healing in the helmet slot (I still have no idea how that happened).

 

RE: Allison, I'd drop a line on RPG Dungeon, see if anybody there has had that problem.

Just do the modder a favor! When you find the one that causes the area instability, make sure you drop him or her a line at the appropriate forum, so they can get it fixed and back in circulation as soon as possible.

To go ahead with gameplay, you're going to have to start over. Your string references would likely be messed up. Since you use DBG, that isn't likely too much of a hardship.

 

But for testing purposes, just to see if the crash occurs, you can use the savedgame or the autosave.

I finally uninstalled Ninafer, and everythings worked like a dream Too bad I wanted to try out Ninafer.

It loads fine for me. I created a new game, moved my party to AR0400 to skip the prologue, entered CC and it loaded fine and Ninafer was there to great me first thing.

 

The only mods that I have installed that have anything to do with CC are CoM Encounters and Unfinished Business.

 

Looks like we have some mod conflicts that caused your problem.

Well I thought of a situation with too many encounters ie I have both SimDings QP, Auren, Yoshi (via DBG) and now Ninafer which greets me in the CC when I enter. Or is Ninafer hiding somewhere else in the CC?
