BGEE - Lonely without Gavin!

I am playing the BGEE right now, but I haven't even reached the great city of Baldur's Gate when I had to do an additional install of GOG Baldur's Gate.

I missed Gavin so much that I just couldn't go on without him! I mean, I love the new characters and areas, but there's just this huge hole in my poor little pc's heart that won't be complete without Gavin.

I just finished an additional install so I can play both versions and have my Gavin, too.

I just had to say this. Berelinde, he is (and so are you!) just THAT amazing. <3

Aw, I'm glad that he has made the game more enjoyable for you!

Hopefully, it will be possible to port mods to BGEE, but the new file structure will require some recoding. And hopefully, it won't take the modding community too long to figure out how to do it.

With SHS's release of two BG:EE-compatible mods, I've had a chance to look at working code, and I have good news. It looks as if it will not be difficult at all for me to convert Gavin. I'm going to have to buy the game and test, but this looks like it's going to be the easiest mod project I've got on deck.

And I'm going to have to talk to cmorgan. If he isn't already working on a BG:EE-compatible BG1 NPC, this would be a good time to start testing that, too.

That's good news indeed! Kaeloree, would you please post a short tutorial for other modders? Sorry to bother, I'm sure reading your mod's code will be a good conversion tutorial in itself, but I'm afraid to forget something(especially since I don't have BG:EE and can't test) without explicit notes.

I have created a BG:EE version of Gavin and it installs fine. I will do a quick in-game check (long enough to see whether the version seems stable). Then I'd like to fix the most crucial bugs, if there are any, and then I'll make a call for testers!
