G3: Dragon Age Style Portraits, v2 Available

The Gibberlings Three

Dragon Age Style portraits offers alternate portraits for BioWare NPCs, the PC, and a selection of mod NPCs. These portraits were made using the Dragon Age: Origins Character Creator. Version 2 corrects the way alternate portraits were assigned to mod NPCs and corrects the size of Anomen alternate portrait 1. Mod by berelinde This mod is intended for your Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate Tutu, Baldur's Gate Trilogy, or Baldur's Gate II game. Ships with WeiDU v213, and is available for your Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux operating system.

I must say I really like this mod. Most portraits are really good (I just don't like the Viconia ones) and it gives a new fresh feeling to the game. Excellent work, berelinde. :)

I will report though that one option for Anomen does not install.

I've solved this temporary by commenting the two lines in the tp2 :

	COPY_EXISTING ~b!gavinl.bmp~ ~portraits/b_gavbl.bmp~
COPY_EXISTING ~b!gavins.bmp~ ~portraits/b!gavbs.bmp~

Besides, there are two mistakes in the portraits page (not the mod itself).

Nalia 4 (brown hair) is missing from the portraits page.

Valygar 2 (no beard) is called "Valygar 4" in the portraits page.

Ah, ok, missed that. When I read your post, it wasn't even 8am here. No coffee=poor comprehension. The portrait page that ships with the mod will stay the way it is until next time because I'm not going to send three 31-35MB packages through an FTP twice in one day, but I can update the site portraits page.

Edit: Site files are updated. :suspect:

After installing the mod it seems to me that some of the portraits got mixed up on different party members. Minsc seems to have Valygars and Jaheria seems to have Aeries. I am pretty near 100% on this because I don't think Minsk was pretty darkskinned with a HUGE mustache, lol. What happened and how can I fix it?

Link to comment

The "lore version" of Minsc does have dark skin, copious hair, and a thick, heavy mustache. That's because Rashemi are known to be extremely hairy and the men take pride in thir abundant facial hair. Just like the "lore version" of Edwin has him bald and beardless because Thayvians traditionally shave their body hair. We're used to seeing bald, beardless Minsc because that's the way the original art was, but then the original game art for BG made Viconia a pale-skinned human-looking woman with obnoxious tattoos.

If you would prefer a more traditional look for Minsc, choose "bald Minsc" during installation. I think that's option one. He will always be dark-skinned because even his BG2 concept art has him looking pretty dark, but he will be suitably bald, beardless, and tattooed.

Sorry if Jaheira's portrait doesn't meet your expectations. If you look at the portraits page, maybe one of the other variations will be more satisfactory.

Of course, it is possible that this mod just won't suit your aesthetic interpretation of the characters. If that's the case, it can be uninstalled just like any other WeiDU mod.

No that isn't what I am saying at all. It is happening with other characters to. The portraits appearing from them are not fitting the descriptions I choose in the slightest. They are for sure the descriptions I read for other characters. I chose Valygar with a mustache for example and he for sure does not. In fact I think he may be Minsk.
