Haer And Fatherhood

I don't know if this has been brought up or discussed but a story I just finished for my character on another board has Haer experiencing fatherhood. This is an interesting concept for him I think, considering his whole destructive and choatic view of life, it makes one wonder just how would he feel if he actually helped brought and create a new life? Would it bring forth a possible alignment change, and perhaps maybe a slight alteration of his philosophy ... like destroying the old to make way for the new, an endless cycle type thing.

Another reason I bring this up is cuz in almost every BG 2 romance there is a child born in there somewhere. No reason why Haer's couldn't have that also as one possible result. Thanks for reading :D

Well, I'm afraid we don't have anything like that planned. In my opinion, the game's too short for bringing it to a proper conclusion (look at the Aerie romance, for example. My memory may be playing trick on me here, but I remember her being pregnant for a week or so before the child is born :D ), and just saying that the main character is pregnant and leave it at that would at least to me feel like just leaving it unfinished.

So no, it's probably not going to happen, at least not within the game. If Haer'Dalis stays with the main character after that, anything might happen, but that's another matter.

Having a kid does not affect all people the same way. Not all grown into responsible parenthood. While I don't know what JPS and co. have planned for Haer's background Tieflings in general seem to have rather loose or no families so their ideas of childhood and being a parent might not quite match ours. Especially when the child to be would be anything but ordinary - even if the mother was not a bhaalspawn.

But as JPS said there is not simply time for that to be handled in the game properly (with birth and all) and the 'gosh I'm pregnant - would I ascend now or not' has been used with Kelsey - it worked quite nicely in that though.

Okay, I can't help but think that it is an inherently chaotic action for Haer'dalis to indiscriminately sleep around without considering (or actively ignoring) the consequences of such action. IMHO that means (unless Haer'dalis is inexperienced and how many of us would believe that!) Haer'dalis could have already fathered a child or children. Just my 2 cents!!

i totally agree with that one :D

i mean he didnt seem like the blushing virgin in the game :D the whole fatherhood thing could be used as some kind of lovetalk but not as getting the pc pregnant .... hmm ... i dunno ... :D

And how about "plans for future"?

HD - CHARNAME! You didn't accept your father's Throne! You'll stay with me!

PC - But of course! How could you even think that I'll leave you, lover? Besides, the Throne is not the place where our son will grow...

HD - WHA-AT?!! *falls off his feet*

Sweet, isn't it?

And than sit and think of what a half-tiefling-half-aasimar might look like... :)

No, an aasimar is a person who has a celestial creature (an angel, basically. I think they've even changed the namen to "angel" in the latest edition of D&D) somewhere among their ancestors, the same way a tiefling has a demon ancestor. Anything less than half-celestial but still close enough to actually have some effect.

I've been told that some game (Icewind Dale II, perhaps?) claims that the children of gods are aasimars, but that's something they just made up.

That said, the children of a tiefling and a half-god could turn out to look very interesting, but I've decided not to include any in the mod. The epilogues will leave the question open, though, so if you want children you'll have to imagine them yourself. :)
