czacki
...on how long it may actually take, hah. with the "adventure Y" finally revealed, it hit me that there's an overwhelming amount of things that I'd love to see in the "BGEE complete": 1. the EET, of course (but I think it's nearly done, just needs the Adv. Y) to roll 2. SCS for Adv. Y (that will probably not take more than 1-2 months, hopefully?) 3. Level 0 NPC mod for EE (still no word from Miloch on EE progress () 4. proper Ascension (I know one of the devs said that he'll do it after Adv. Y, but who knows if that happens... so much stuff... I wanna play BG hard, but there's so much stuff that I really want to incorporate to have a complete adventure, damnit :< any ideas on how long this may take? Link to comment
Jarno Mikkola
3. Level 0 NPC mod for EE ... Level 1 ... Give it 5 years. Link to comment
cmorgan
BG:SoDR is not slated to be released until the end of 2015 or the beginning of 2016. If it works like BG:EE and BG2:EE, then modders will get a few hints that don't break NDA to help get ready, but actually modding the game won't realistically happen until several months after release - too much can change, and the way BG:EE/BG2:EE patches are distributed means you have to reinstall all your mods after a patch (which generally means starting a new game). So most folks will probably waiot until at leaset the first patch is out. tl,dr - no one knows - but I would play the game without it and have fun, then go back for another. Some of us have played each of the chapters multiple times for over a decade, and most of us have *still* never played all of the potential pathways from every perspactive. Lots in there even without mods, and with mods... well... SERIOUS amounts of things to do. Link to comment
czacki
So, a year at best, I guess. Oh well, I know you could just technically play it as it is (I beat the game twice) but... You know, the "completion" feeling is kinda stinging Link to comment
Ardanis
2. SCS for Adv. Y (that will probably not take more than 1-2 months, hopefully?) I sincerely hope we've taken a good enough effort to ensure you won't need it anytime soon Link to comment

The extra AI layer also helps. it's not like SCS is difficult (it's not), but at least it's not brain-dead easy like vanilla :3 I honestly can't picture BG without SCS anymore Link to comment
Jarno Mikkola
I honestly can't picture BG without SCS anymoreThen just play the original game as you should... with BWS and other tools. It's not like you could have played the 500 mod combo with all the 1500 components randomly picked for variety anyways. As there's multi billion possibilities of them. Link to comment

I sincerely hope we've taken a good enough effort to ensure you won't need it anytime soon That does not mean fights are much harder than in bg1 and 2? Because not everyone wants difficult fights. Some like to play RPG games because of the NPC interactions and the, well, role playing possibilities. Link to comment
jastey
Good to hear. (Wanted to make sure we "dialogue and romance" player types won't be forgotten. ) Link to comment
czacki
@jastey while difficulty is largely individual preference, for me it's hard to get immersed in a game that's too easy. I mean - if you're not a god (and a level 8-9 char certainly isn't one), you should struggle. Otherwise it's just awkward. But of course "proper" difficulty has an easy setting for those interested mostly in story. @Ardanis are you an Adventure Y developer? could you give any hints on whether you guys plan to develop proper EE Ascension?:3 Link to comment
Kulyok
I'll just hope it's well written and interesting. I'm certainly going to get it either way. Link to comment
Cahir
AFAIK there will be a Story mode in SoD, just like the one in IWDEE, which is tailored for players that are mostly interested in story. Link to comment

And yet the game expects you to win the fight(s) because it is designed for it (or it ends), even though your PC is only a lv.x character, so I don't see any awkwardiness in this. But if the game forces me to re-load, think of a strategy, reload and rest, reload, learn different spells and rest just to win one stupid (middle) foe fight - a fight it expects me to win, btw. - this is no fun for me but a real, real nuisance à la PITA. I am not judging - I know there are people who enjoy it, but please (you developpers) do not forget about us who play the game with focus on role playing and character interaction. Link to comment
