Generic Romance Poll

-JR-

Recommended Posts

I've got some questions to ask of the community. My project is described in detail somewhere around here, but in general it's an expansion to the Bioware Romances. I'm wondering: what do you ejoy most about the mod romances, be they things added by new NPCs, flirtpack stuff, or RE material? Or other suggestions, stuff that might not even be out there yet.

This is one of those things where I'm probably already planning on including a lot of what will be suggested, but it never hurts to hear people's opinions, aye?

Good question. As a start:

* frequent "somethings" so I know it's still working :) That can be a PIF or a "Gavin walks close to you...."

* optional levels of raunch (is that a word?) rather than keeping it vanilla.

* comments from other party members.

I'm sure I'll think of other things.

And also :suspect:

All tailored content is great but I rate specific-to-location way above specific-to-race or class. So The Love Interest commenting that the darkness in Umar woods means we should stay extra close together beats "so, what's it like being am elf?". Naff examples which demonstrate why I offer to proof rather than writing lol.

I am LOVING the NPC-specific items from Master G* in the Promenade. A new Romance which included a gift there would be...... well, it would.

Would area-specific PIDs be a better idea than interjections? I know some people get bothered by constant interuptions.

I'm thinking along the lines of an extended version of what the Kivan mod had.

Keep in mind that any kind of PID is going to make your mod incompatible with PPG's NPC Flirt Pack. Not that you should be deterred by this, if you are planning on introducing completely new flirts, but you should be aware of it.

In my experience, most players who deliberately download and install NPC dialogue enhancement mods want more dialogues. If they didn't, they wouldn't install the mod. So I don't think you would get many objections to adding area-specific dialogues. Besides, they aren't difficult to code, so your coder will be happy.

Thanks for the input, Berlinde.

I abandoned any hope of compatibility with the flirtpack long ago, which I'm feeling a lot of guilt about considering how much time and talent went into its creation. My ideal solution would be incorporating and rearranging some of the flirtpack flirts to better fit the personalities and timelines I'm setting up for the characters, but I think that requesting something like that would be disrespectful to the writers.

As is, I'm trying not to review any of the material, because I don't want any of the ideas seeping into my mind when I write my own. It's definitely going to happen to some extent though, because there's only so many things along those lines people can write about.
