  1. Thought I should add, this seems to be a problem in the original Baldur's Gate 2 game. The game can crash when adding a map marker, or altering the character biography, or editing a journal entry. (I don't know if the crash on character import when non .chr files are present is related, though there are things to suggest it may be.) Seems this can happen even with a fresh install of the original disc version. Though it only happens on certain systems. For example copying an installation of the game that crashes on one system, onto another system, might no longer crash when performing those actions. There seems to be scattered posts about this now and then and I haven't seen a solution or exact cause. https://www.gog.com/forum/baldurs_gate_series/baldurs_gate_2_complete_crash_when_trying_to_change_character_biography_writing_in_the_journal_a There are posts related to these crashes going back years, with conflicting reports blaming antivirus, video drivers.. Though neither seem to be a reliable solution. With Collbrande mentioning the problem was possibly created/solved through mods it sounds like there's some hope of fixing it in the game itself for those having this problem. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable about the game has some idea about where to look.
  2. If possible I'd really like an option to prevent the first class becoming inactive when Dual-Classing a character. It feels far to punishing having it become inactive. For example playing the vast majority of BG1 with your Thief's skills disabled while they're a useless Mage compared to the rest of the party, a party which now has to bring another Thief along or go without. Also in things like BGT, where you may be planning further ahead and so having a higher level first class, it may not even re-activate until some point in BG2. It's very frustrating and I'd really appreciate such an option. (Just to clarify, I don't mean for the first class to continue gaining experience after Dual Classing, rather that it just doesn't become useless/unusable until some condition) Though it would be nice to keep the no Hitpoint gain until the new class surpasses the first, so it doesn't end up with excessive Hitpoints.
  3. Think I may have found a bug, or at least some problem, in Tweaks Anthology v8 > Content Changes > Move Alora to Gullykin. I've been playing a while and finally got to the Hall of Wonders, trying to enter crashes the game. Tried a number of things (such as going there first thing after entering the City, avoiding having the Larceny quest etc) but it kept crashing. Though for some unknown reason it did successfully load 1 time, then crashed countless more times. Reading into it I found Alora was meant to be in The Hall of Wonders, then remembered I decided to try the "Move NPCs" thing. Altering/removing the option to move her now lets me enter the Hall of Wonders from any of the previous saves without issue, tested each multiple times with no crashes now. Though that might be something worth looking into. Also should I expect any problems due to having removed the option to move Alora? I have previously had her as a companion in Gullykin for a minute and left her there. Removing the Move Alora option does seem to have a problem at this point, I met her inside the Hall, thought I'd experiment, got her to join the party and then dismissed her, then told her to go wait in the Elfsong Tavern, shortly after she vanishes the game crashes. I'm hoping as things are, this won't effect new games, and if I just leave her alone in the current game it might be fine/salvageable. Though I'm a little curious what will happen if I return to Gullykin where I left the first Alora. WeiDU.log
  4. I also noticed my new BGT install (everything up to date) crashes when making map markers. If the game crashes when trying to import a character try removing all non .CHR files form the "\characters" folder.
  5. Thanks for the feedback CamDawg, that sounds reassuring enough. Sounds like I'll give it a go when I manage to get it all together. The main reason for me being so cautious about it was the mention of it being something of a re-write, which has many implications, good and bad. Will probably be a while before I get dug in, gathered the mods I want but still need to find out about install order/compatibility. Also still playing Pillar's of Eternity, at last, and a lot of the time while playing it I end up thinking,,,, why am I not playing Baldur's Gate lol. Sure it looks and sounds great but it has some godawful stuff and I don't mean awful like Noober, rather just plain bad but also some good. Once I get to it I'll try keep an eye open for any bugs and report back if able. Cheers.
  6. Don't worry jastey I understand what you mean. Having been a programmer without testers (ie I was also the tester, yay) I completely understand. Though I don't play the game often, next time would be maybe my 4th time in what's approaching 20 years including incomplete runs. So I don't remember specifics and won't notice anything other than a blatant bug and wouldn't be much help even if the game were very linear. Also since I play it so rarely it would really suck if I end up having to abandon the playthrough half way.
  7. It's stunning to see Baldur's Gate still getting so much TLC, I'm sure many more people appreciate it than the thanks given. Anyway, I've been thinking about giving Baldur's Gate 1+2 another go sometime, soonish. With BGT, Widescreen, Tweak Pack, Fixpack, Bigger Fonts and likely Unfinished Business. So I was wondering if anyone would recommend this v11 Beta over v10, or should I just stick with v10. I remember last time I put it all together in BGT it was around the time of Fixpack v9 and Tweakpack v9 but never got round to adding Unfinished Business and don't really want to mess with the install and risk adding it now. So figured I should just make a new one especially since the updated files. It would just be rather disheartening to hit some big problem half way through such a long run so I'd like to err on the side of caution, unless v11 is fine despite the Beta status. Thanks.
