Widescreen Mod for non IE games (Fallout/Diablo/Arcanum)

I know they arent IE games, but they are Epic 2d RPGs with limited resolution options. I would love to play these on my 24 inch widescreen monitor, but they look terrible, and as much as I love them it does annoy me.

 

The widescreen mod got me to replay all the great Black Isle/Bioware games, and I have the utmost respect for the brilliance behind this mod.

 

Is it it possible to do the same thing for these games?

As far as I know, it's not possibe for Fallout. There were several attempts to change the resolution in fallout 2 but the game became extremelly buggy and unplayable. So much so that as far as I know, the work on that front was abandoned.

 

I've seen a mod for Diablo 2 but the gui becomes extremelly distorted and the game becomes unplayable as well. As far as I'm aware all attempts to make the game work at higher res have failed.

 

As for Arcanum, I've not seen anything.

This is out of topic but I found a resolution patch for Fallout and Fallout 2. Seems to work fine. Guess someone figured out a way of doing it without breaking the gameplay. No luck on fiding one for Diablo2.
