Question about NPC Continuity & XP

Hi all,

I've recently installed EET for the first time with Recommended BWS settings. I'd like to have a solid playthrough from BG1 all the way to BG2 but have some concerns about how the XP adjustments works (if any) for characters that I have had in my party. I've only just started so I don't want to commit playing all the way through until I fully understand the way NPC continuity works in case I end up in a scenario that can't be fixed.

Apologies if this has been answered in another thread. I've trawled through every post but can't find a clear answer to this, or maybe I'm just not understanding it.

A bit of context:

I'd like to have the following party members and bring them all the way through to TOB:

CHARNAME

Jaheira

Minsc

Viconia

Edwin

Neera

However, due to the paired NPC of Jaheira/Khalid & Minsc/Dynaheir I have to lug around the dead weight and means I can't bring one of the pairs across and will have to abandon one of the pairs and recruit them again in BG2 to fit the 6 party limit. They are around Level 1-3 when I recruit them and kick them out of the. What level will they be when I recruit them again in BG2

I.e I recruit Minsc & Dynaheir in BG1 at around Level 1-3. I remove them from the party alive. By the time BG2 starts and I recruit Minsc in Irenacus's Dungeon, what level will he be? The same as when I left him in BG1 or will he have his XP & Level adjusted to match CHARNAME.

If anyone can shed some light on this, it will be much appreciated. I'm itching to start playing tonight :).

Cheers.

Minsc will have the level you left him with, but gets some extra XP you can use to adjust him.

Minsc will have the level you left him with,

There is actually vanilla BG2:EE patch 2.x implementation that still exists in EET (BD_JOINXP variable is reset after moving to SoA). XP will be roughly adjusted like this:

- if Player 1 XP > 1249999 and NPC XP < 1250000 set XP to 1250000

- if Player 1 XP > 999999 and NPC XP < 1000000 set XP to 1000000

- if Player 1 XP > 749999 and NPC XP < 750000 set XP to 750000

- if Player 1 XP > 499999 and NPC XP < 500000 set XP to 500000

- if Player 1 XP > 249999 and NPC XP < 250000 set XP to 250000

- if Player 1 XP > 124999 and NPC XP < 125000 set XP to 125000

- If Player 1 XP <= 124999 keep NPC XP as it is
