Importing Items into BG2:EET

Recommended Posts

Hello!

So, I'm finishing up Siege of Dragonspear now and would like a small bit of input about if I should import party items into BG2. I have so many amazing magical items at the end of BG:EE + SoD that I'm afraid I'll just be too loaded with good stuff and making the first several hours of BG2 too easy. Either that or I'll miss out on using other items because I'm "stuck in my ways" using the items I already have!

Any input on this? I'm trying not to be obsessive and import everything but I also am wondering what would be best for a "roleplaying, lore-friendly" approach. I.e. it wouldn't make sense if BG2 starts weeks after SoD and there are chests full of my gear + 5 companions who aren't even present at the start...

Thanks in advance.

just continue the game and see what the dungeon looks like in EET. Once you are out of the dungeon and left the Promenade, you can reach City Gates and the worldmap. You can go back to any old map where you may have stored stuff - provided you still want it by that time. The EET world is less restrictive in that. And you may have some mod component installed that already provides you with some past items.

Playing a new game allows to make new game experience.

Interesting. Thanks for the answer! Can I ask one more thing? In EET, does my 6-person party's loot automatically appear in a chest in the starting BG2 dungeon? I just want to make sure I understand how it works before triggering the start of BG2.

What appears - on the duergar's tables or behind the trapped picture - depends on which mod components you have installed. It is never ALL from your six men, thieves and duergar take their toll.

The above is actually to say that IF you want to keep all your BG1 stuff, just go to a BG1 map, open a locker and bump all your stuff into it, and then trigger the transition to the SoA, this will ensure all your stuff is SAFE. Or you can save the game and trigger the transition and you'll be able to see what you get, go back and save the stuff you want to keep in the BG2 that doesn't appear in the transition and keep those in the BG1 area and then come back to that area to retreave the items you would lose IF you want to keep them on the party.

Just as your gold, gone. Yes, there's a few mods that allow the total transportation, but those are also considered cheats and... Roxanne want to fuck you over with not telling you this as there's also mods that want to keep you from keeping the items.

Why I say the last sentence, is that I can not see any other explanation for NOT to including it.

Hmm, thanks ya'll. But what about this specific setting in EET Tweaks. "Transfer Party Items to SoA" I ended up turning it OFF thinking my whole party's stuff would be there, which I'd find weird if like, Corwin's stuff was there. But I couldn't find info on it so I turned it OFF. Now I'm curious if I should have kept it ON though, haha. Since thieves and duergar take their pick I think that could be a cool role-playing thing. But I already started SoA, so, yeah.

My head hurts. Haha.

Weird, I found *everything* from my party on that table in Chateau Irenicus. It's made me rather conflicted on whether I should keep the gear or "forget" about it.

I don't remember selecting anything regarding importing loot from SoD to BG2 in BWS. I mainly used the Recommended preset, with a few minor alterations (dropped some NPCs, added some Friendship/Romance mods for the original cast)

Any suggestions about how to pair down the equipment?

That's the reason why in BWS (not Roxanne's fork) I removed the EETMoveItemsSoA mod from the preselection "Recommended" and "Standard" a month ago, and left it in "Tactical" (and "Expert") because it is a mod that chnages the flow of BGII beginning quite a bit, giving the opportunity to collect 20,000 gp in a day by selling some of the stuff.

In Roxanne's fork, this mod is preselected for EET afaik (which would not be surprising as it is one of her own.)

The only solution I could think off would be "don't pick it up".

Oh, that's it! I used Roxanne's fork for this install! I wanted to try it out, due to broken mod issues in the main BWS! Hmm, I have a save from the end of SoD. I may do a complete reinstall, leave out that mod, and then just restart from there. That way, I'm not deluged in high level equipment.

EDIT: It's a minor enough fix, I was able to just re-run EE-Tweaks and remove the component itself without borking the whole install. I'll make a point of removing it from my custom BWS-EE preset. Thanks for your help!

Weird. Now *nothing* imported. The table had nothing but a handful of generic junk. *headscratch*

Of the two, this is certainly more in keeping with BG2, but damn. I was hoping for a *couple* pieces.

EDIT: Wow, not even the standard BGEE items imported. *shakes head* This looks like a job for EE Keeper!

EDIT 2: Here are my WEIDU logs, if it helps.
