Why is the world so full of nymphos

They do: 'leave me be' works in every case like a charm. What's even better, in most cases PC has to approach them in the first place. And, finally, it is possible to customize your experience and install as many, or as few components as you like.

Welcome to G3. ;)

If you read the readme, or even looked at the list of components, all I can say is "You were warned." And there is *always* a way to refuse any encounter. The writers went to great effort to ensure that there was a penalty-free escape from every single encounter. Me thinks the lady (or gentleman) doth protest too much. ;)

What I am kind of hinting at, is that it is usually a bit all or nothing. I mean, aside from well telling them to go away completely, then there is kind of no way of getting rid of them.

It's kind of all or nothing. That's all I am saying. There is an abscence in this Mod, of ways to interact with these 'nympho' characters without sleeping with them, other than telling them to get lost.

Have you actually played the mod?

Spoilers follow.

If you don't want Aimi to go to your room, you don't have to ask her to go. She'll be happy enough just fawning all over you in the bar.

Aran just wants to take you out to dinner.

Bjornin will settle for a nice backrub, or even just a friendly hello, and be quite content.

Guildmistress Busya is happy just to dance with you.

You don't have to go anywhere near Desharik, and he doesn't seem the type for roses and candlelight.

Elhan offers friendship and good conversation. No sex.

You can throw yourself at Firkraag all you want, for the good it will do you.

Garren is happy just to walk under the stars with you.

The list goes on and on, and I'm not going to list all the components. Yes, there are encounters where it can end in the bedroom, but there are many more where the purpose of the encounter is something quite different. Some of them might end in bed anyway, but the NPCs involved are perfectly happy with a little flirting or perhaps just a nice chat.

Which ones did you feel pressured to have sex with? It's always possible that the writer might agree that the "escapes" might need to be more obvious.

Sheri.

Lais.

Sheri particularly, Lais is a little obvious, even if it annoying that you basically can't interact with the character at all, other than to sleep with her.

I called them nymphos beacause essentially there isn't any way to say no to them, other than to chuck them off in no uncertain terms.

I sense I kind of dialogue imbalance, by which I mean the majority of dialogue says "Yes" and only the most obviously negative dialogues say "No". If one doesn't tell them "Get lost" then they immediately take it to mean they get laid.

Checking code - Shri was written with escapes on almost every single player response block. I know that we edited out the ones where a PC got to say "hey, you are cute but I really want the information on that hunky male fighter in the corner (lots of the options to infer that the protagonist was gay or bi were edited out because they were unnessesary replications of the same "not interested" state, and therefore were bloating the code) - but Sheri will very happily walk away from every single point in the encounter - at any point in time - and she will still sing you bawdy songs.

Please provide more info on what is missing -

With Sheri, the first draft had a dialogue state with six options which more or less said that male PC was interested in Sheri as a woman, and one option which said male PC was a gay. And no other options - no polite refusal, no neutral choices. We fixed the problem, added some variety, and... well... I doubt there's anything else we can do. The point is, Sheri herself seems to be interested in a date, so if PC isn't interested, there's not much that can happen. She still sings, though.

With Lais, it's exactly it: sex. PC may have a wonderful personality, but she doesn't give a damn: she just wants a good romp, and says so.

Title of thread, why is the world full of nymphos. What I am sorta getting at, is that the main purpose of this MOD seems to do precisely that, fill the world with a whole load of people who, one way or another come across as well completely desperate and basically willing to sleep with anyone that doesn't kick them across the room to get rid of them. Or maybe it's just my character is irresistable.

I suppose it's supposed to be amusing, but I do think this MOD should be renamed 'Nymphos of Faerun', since 'Romantic Encounters' is a bit of a misleading title given the nature of the 'Encounters'.

But to be fair, there is not a great deal one can do with a non-party NPC character.

I'm not overly precise, it's kind of my feeling about this MOD, the world now seems to be filled with a mix of extremely overt nymphos (like Lais) and somewhat more subtle nymphos (ie Sheri).

I do note a lack of more subtle negative 'not interested' responses though. I would appreciate more 'negative' responses, that is kind of my only real request for this MOD. For interests sake.

And maybe some very insulting ones. Like "Your so ugly I wouldn't make love to you if you were the last woman alive".

And racial ones too.

I don't sleep with elves. Or with humans, or whatever.

And maybe one's reffering to one's personal relationships, like I'm already engaged with X or Y.

Or one's reffering to your characters 'morals' or the other characters lack of them.

True enough. There are a few already(racial - Edwin, awkward turns - Haer'Dalis and Logan), and there are plans to include more in v3.

GoblinCookie, you take the two encounters that disturb you, ignore berelinde's list of encounters that work different, forget that we are talking about the game's hero, child of a god, and start posting insults, please do it somewhere elase. Thank you.

Insults?! I never meant to insult anyone.

I was merely suggesting that a more detailed variety of "go away' encounters, from the more polite to the utterly insulting would add a great deal to this MOD at times. While bieng somewhat amusing.

But I've made my point anyway now.

Hopefully I've answered the question. Romantic Encounters has quite a few authors(I don't like the words 'community project', but it probably is), and different authors take different positions on various issues, but all suggestions are welcome, listened to and appreciated. (Mind you, not necessarily implemented - though this one will be, with new encounters, eventually ;) ).
