I've been trying (to no avail) to install the Better General AI component of SCS - first I had an error with the first required resource component, but the Big World Fixpack got past that point. But now it won't install that component specifically - kind of a problem, since I was hoping for AI improvements to spellcasters, which IMO, along with the tactical challenges, are the biggest reasons to use this mod. A lot of stuff is dependent on this component, so I REALLY hope I can get it to work. I'm not using the BiG World Project, because I have no idea how I'm supposed to change my steam directory without screwing up the directory. I only use the C drive.

The error it gives at the end of all the text is this:

ERROR: Failure("resource [D5SKAL1.spl] not found for 'COPY'")
Detailed error information can be found in the file SETUP-STRATAGEMS.DEBUG

I also attached the full DEBUG file it made to this post.

Any suggestions? In the meantime, I'm going to uninstall and clear out the folder, then reinstall.

Alright... I reinstalled BGEE, first thing I did was run the SCS exe to install, exit immediately once everything was copied, copied over the BiG World fixes (to replace 9 files properly), and it won't install the initial component again.

Turns out I still have to rely on that hotfix (from SubtleDoctor?) to even be able to run it. The BiG World fixpack, possibly because I'm not using BiG World Project (again, I would if I could, but I use the steam version, and I don't know how to change the directory exactly).

Well crap. Removed the old patched folder, reinstalled SCS with SubtleDoctor's fix, and it worked this time. I'm assuming it's either an incompatibility, a problem with the BiG World Fixpack and manual copying (could just be my fault this whole time XD), or... Something. I didn't use many mods though. Is SCS compatible with IWDification?

Lol, now the Arrows of Dispelling tweak is giving me issues (no other mods installed), saying an error of "ERROR: Failure("resource [MODESTOM.0X40A] not found for 'COPY'")"

Not a big deal, but since I'm already posting errors I'm having, I figure I'd post this one. None of the other components I installed gave problems though.

Hmm, the point of failure might not be at the ERROR... -stage, but before it, as the report structure seems to be that of the uninstall debug, which is just a fancy way of staging the obvious, nothing was done.

So we would need the full .debug -files content to know what happened before it, you can do that by opening the .debug file with with notepad and posting the whole files content in spoilers, aka you make a post like this: [ spoiler ] debug text [ / spoiler ] while removing the extra spaces between the characters, so the forum code tags become operational.

The first error about D5SKAL1.spl is there because the supposed file is not in the game. Why it's not is likely because of a kit that was installed should have added it, as it is supposed to have it at their ability table, but it doesn't. SCS is coded to be a jerk that way. Well, it's a side effect of imperfect design that was supposed to be perfect.

Welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand.
Here's how to install all the ... mods you ever really could want to Infinity Engine games. I removed the stable word from there as Roxanne began to add BS mods that are likely to break compatibility from the BWS.
