I Saw A Film Today, Oh Boy

Movie topic!!

Ironman was totally better than I thought it would be, mainly because Robert Downey Jr. is all kinds of awesome. I was afraid his acting wouldn't be up to par, since he is now completely sober and all, but his charisma remains untouched.

Haven't seen the other big movie, Speed Racer yet. I've heard mixed reviews... anyone here got an opinion?

I am also considering going to see Prince Caspian, mainly because I dig dark haired guys with Spanish-sounding accents, be they real or fake.

It's gotta be one or the other, since I'm poor. Recommendations?

Also, feel free to post about whatever movie happens to be on your mind at the moment. I love talking about movies.

You're right, Ironman certainly rocks. I love the way they ended it. Did you stay for the end of the credits?

As for other films, I saw the new Indiana Jones movie. That got mixed reviews too but I'm all for it.

I thought Iron Can was entertaining, but the ending blew arse. And the love interest was handled poorly IMO.

In a couple of spots I got the distinct feeling that the cost of the CGI forced them to shortchange certain aspects of the film.

As for the sneaky end, that kind of blew too.

Samuel Jackson ain't no Nick Fury, Charlton Heston might have been able to pull it off, but not Samuel J.

I saw Indiana Jones. In comparison with the other three Indie movies, I thought it was pretty good. You have to take into consideration that Harrison Ford is incapable of playing any other style role that's not Indiana Jones or Han Solo (if you look closely, they might as well be the same person). The movie is cheesy but that's the fun in it. Anyone who takes it more seriously than that is an idiot as it is not meant to be the epic/deep Oscar winner of the year.

I want to see Prince Caspian, not because I think it will be the greatest movie ever, heck it probably won't be as good as the first, which was mediocre but had a kickass soundtrack. I want to see it because 1) I like action/adventure movies, be they bad or good and 2) I want to see if they were able to take the utter boringness out of the book (yes I read all of them). Also...new songs?

Robert Downey, Jr. will be reprising his role as Tony Stark, making a cameo appearance in The Hulk (released in June). The little teaser at the end (after the credits) indeed shows Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Head of S.H.I.E.L.D. The "Avenger Initiative" he refers to may have something to do with Marvel Studios planning an Avengers movie in the near future.

Ooo. yes. I actually got to see a little bit of it being filmed last summer. My family and I were out in Connecticut visiting family. My uncle mentioned that they were filming at the Yale campus, which was about fifteen minutes from their house. We all jumped into a couple of vans and drove over there. We never got to see Harrison Ford (although we talked to a few people who had run into him and Calista, they said they were very nice), but we did see tons of extras walking around in vintage clothes. We also got to watch a little bit of the motorcycle chase being filmed.

I love Harrison Ford.

Just got back from an impromptu viewing of the latest Indiana Jones movie. It was kind of ridiculous at points, but good fun and definitely worth seeing. I was a little disturbed to see the actor who played Chairman Adam Sutler in V for Vendetta in the movie. My sister got her picture taken with one of those guys in the Marshall jacket. Not sure which one, but I'm thinking she should claim it's the guy who got punched in the face by Shia LeBoeff.

I'm also sad every time I see James Broadbent in a movie that is NOT Moulin Rogue!, because he seems so frail and old without the fat suit and crazy, screaming personality.

On the subject of Harrison Ford, what is your favorite movie of his? I'm a big fan of Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back aka Eppy IV. Not only is it the most well written and best acted of all the Star Wars movies, it's got that great moment with Han and Leia,

"I love you!"

"I know."

Sexy.

Why do they need another Hulk movie? It's not even 'Hulk II' or anything. I guess the first one was so bad they're trying to pretend it was never made?

I think Blade Runner tops Empire for dialogue.

Sushi Master: He say you under arrest, Mr. Deckard.

Deckard: Got the wrong guy, pal.

Sushi Master: He say you 'Brade Runner'.

Deckard: Tell him I'm eating.

I would guess that that's pretty much it. This one's apparently got more to do with Marvel. Not that I thought the last one was particularly bad but I seem to watch any old crap and enjoy it.

"Officially," the movie is titled "The Incredible Hulk." And it's widely accepted that the first film didn't do the Marvel character justice. I saw the new film today and it's obvious Marvel is tying this one with Iron Man, released previously, for a future story arc. I liked this movie, and it was more reminiscent of the late 70s TV show. There's even a cameo of Lou Ferrigno and student reporter "Jack McGee" captures video of a military attack on campus.
