Lunever
I'm familiar with BG-Tutu and BG-Trilogy, IWD1 and IWD2, and also had a short glance into Icewind Gate II (though I can't play it since the initial cut scene loops endlessly). Of all these games imho BG2 hast the best story and plot, and IWD1 has the best RPG engine (the 3E engine of IWD2 has to few character options compared to paper&pen imho). So I wonder, has there ever been a port of the BG I+II content to the IWD1 engine? Because that is what I would prefer above every other mod. Link to comment

The major issue is that the IWD1 version of the engine can't handle NPCs, that's why people have focused on porting to the BG2 version of the Infinity Engine Link to comment
Jarno Mikkola
Of all these games imho BG2 hast the best story and plot, and IWD1 has the best RPG engine ... It's really not, for one thing, it doesn't even have the ability add NPCs to the party. Nor does the IWDII's engine... IWD2 can not handle joinable PC's or inter-party dialog very well ... The IwD I has the same issues as the IwDII... So I wonder, has there ever been a port of the BG I+II content to the IWD1 engine? That's quite impossible. But the reverse is somewhat well on it's way already. You can of course proof us wrong, but... and that's a big 'but'. Link to comment
Lunever
Ok, no NPCs is a big difference indeed. So, does any mod for BG2 exist, that utilizes the wonderful 2-weapon quickslots from IWD? Link to comment
lynx
yes, something like that, done with some clever scripting. I don't recall the name though. btw, what do you like so much about the iwd (you probably mean how) engine? Link to comment

I don't recall the name though. btw, what do you like so much about the iwd (you probably mean how) engine? Small interface stuff like that. I favour multiclass fighter/thieves. In BG2 I can can have a Paladin switch with just 1 quickslot mouseclick from a longbow to a halberd, but I cannot make my thief quickly switch from shortbow to 2 shortswords, except by pausing the game in multiplayer mode and do manually via the inventory. That's a main point for me. It's a long time since I last player IWD1, but I remember that there was a number small interface stuff that made me think, that the engine had improved somewhat, I just felt the story was to streamlined. So if anyone rememebers or finds such a mod, I'd be very glad indeed! Link to comment
lynx
what you speak of was available only in iwd2; multiclass fighter/thieves are available in all the games. Link to comment

Ishad Nha
"I'm familiar with BG-Tutu and BG-Trilogy, IWD1 and IWD2, and also had a short glance into Icewind Gate II (though I can't play it since the initial cut scene loops endlessly)." Was that the Beta version or the Delta version. I am playing the latter and am close to Suldanesselar? "It's really not, for one thing, it doesn't even have the ability add NPCs to the party. Nor does the IWDII's engine..." NPCs in Icewind Gate 2 seem to work OK. You allow them to join, you Export their character file, you hit C key, you delete them then you import them via the file. Ishad Nha
It seems that NPCs in IWG2 may cause annoying slow-downs in scrolling, in certain areas only. I think you can create them yourself, I am detailing methods in the Social Bioware forum. Link to comment

Ishad Nha
Here is one link, the Social Bioware forum: http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/182/index/7672165/4 This forum has no absolute number system for identifying individual posts, no dates and no "Reply #". The other forum is Boards of Magic: http://www.sorcerers.net/forums/showthread...5387&page=3 Here you are looking for Reply #54. Solution is to create normal IWD2 PCs then use Near Infinity to give them the dialog and personality of the original BG2 NPCs, this is explained in the two posts. Link to comment
