Guest Narakir
Hello, It's all in the title, my game crash every time someone casts Larloch's Minor Drain. I've tried to remove all the graphic and sound options to be sure that wasn't that, so I guess there's sometime in the gamefiles and I never experienced it before. I've BG2 with TOB + Fixpack 6.0 + NPC flirtpack + Imoen romance. If I can solve it manually just tell me how, I'm not afraid about editing game files. Thanks in advance. Link to comment
Guest Narakir
Sorry for double posting; in fact the game crashes when the spell hits a target. Link to comment
Taimon
I can't replicate it with fixpack alone. Please enable the error log , let the game crash again and post the contents of baldur.err in your BG2 directory. (You might also post your weidu.log.) Link to comment

I did everything, nothing is written in the error log, the game freeze and I've to quit and stop it manually every time. Looks like the game is searching for something that do not exists... // Log of Currently Installed WeiDU Mods// The top of the file is the 'oldest' mod // ~TP2_File~ #language_number #component_number // [subcomponent Name -> ] Component Name [ : Version] ~BG2FIXPACK/SETUP-BG2FIXPACK.TP2~ #4 #0 // BG2 Fixpack - Correctifs principaux // Recently Uninstalled: ~IMOEN.TP2~ #1 #0 // 'Imoen Romance Add-on Mod BG2:SoA(ToB requis!)v1.201' ~IMOEN.TP2~ #1 #0 // 'Imoen Romance Add-on Mod BG2:SoA(ToB requis!)v1.201' Link to comment
Taimon
Well, this looks like a local issue. Maybe your installtion somehow got messed up. Try temporarily renaming spwi119.spl in the override directory. (adding a .bak extension or something) You may also check out shwater.bam, which is the animation which is played when the spell hits the target. Link to comment

I tried both to rename and remove the spell file, the game still freeze and I do not have the file shwater.bam. I uninstalled the fixpack to see what happens, the spell works but it's a shame to have to play without the fixpack, especially as I do not know if I can continue my game normally without issues. Bearwere
just backup orginal spwi119.spl, install fixpack and replace the modified file with original (well, it should lie in backup folder anyway) BTW, I noticed bg2fixpack uses immunity to spell to prevent self-cast exploit. This, however, prevents larloch's minor drain from being stackable, which is a bug. Link to comment

Guest Narakir
Great, the whole thing is fixed, thanks for your time and help Link to comment
Nythrun
Neither spwi119.spl nor spin104.spl are going to be in the override directory for an install with only the official patch - if you can back those files up manually, something is wrong (Baldurdash, or a WeiDU glitch, or some other nastiness). If you'd like to email one of those files to me, I can try guessing what other modifications you have installed. As it is, though, you're likely to encounter more (possibly severe) errors and should probably consider a reinstall, or a restore from clean backup. Link to comment

I had another old installation with Baldurdash I picked the files there. Sould I still reinstall the whole thing ? Could I keep my current game without having errors ? Link to comment
Nythrun
If you're feeling adventurous, sure - you might get lucky. After browsing the Baldurdash documentation, it doesn't modify these two spells, so I have no real idea what you've overwritten with what and can only guess at what the problem might have been. Most important thing, of course, is that your game works, so bon chance. Link to comment
Guest Narakir
I'll reinstall and restart everything, I wasn't that far and I feel it's better to not take risks. Anyway thanks again for your help Link to comment
vikhik
Necromancy! This is the first (and only relevant) result for "weidu larloch's minor drain crash" on google. I crash when casting larloch's minor drain, but only upon the spell hitting the target. The crash freezes the program, and I must end the process to continue, same as above! I've included all the relevant .spl files in the following zip and a list of installed mods (not really that many!). http://temp-share.com/show/2gFH9XPx8 Link to comment
