Salk
PROPOSED ITEM (bam at: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9_1X7K5KtOceGN4LTVaV2JZdEk/view?usp=sharing) Ring of Opportunity This ring was given to you by Koveras in Candlekeep. Its polished black surface is cold to the touch and engraved with powerful incantations. The ring's design and crafting material suggest western workmanship. On the inside you see what appears to be a thick figure eight with a slash mark through it. Scourge
that ring belongs to one of the nobles and is used as a proof for the murder of sarevok's father. It seems strange to me that a noble, especially sarevok's father would have a cursed item. Link to comment

If I am not mistaken, you can refuse to accept the ring in Candlekeep and that won't save you from being arrested? At any rate the ring is a mere duplication of the Ring of Protection +1. It should be something different with an unique lore/background. It doesn't even have to be magical per se but very valuable. Link to comment
Jarno Mikkola
If I am not mistaken, you can refuse to accept the ring in Candlekeep and that won't save you from being arrested?Or you can drop it after accepting the ring. But it's a piece of the evidence, aka there's a special dialog about it, if it's in your inventory. Also you gain the ring only after you have missed the opportunity to gain it in the "regular way", as in you go and kill the Iron Throne guys, as they won't be in the room afterwards. No, the ring is a special ring, just like every one of your fingers. Go on, try to find even one finger that's exactly like yours, you will never find it. Now yes, the rings enhancement is the same as the normal Ring Of Protection +1. But whose to say it needs to be that. Demi could make it unique by adding a +2 to the saves instead of +1(still keeping the AC at +1), while making it not wearable by good chars or just paladins. Now the item would be unique, and not too much too good. And by the way, why would the ring be valuable if it were not magical ? Yes, if you want to make it to be enhanceable after the fact, go ahead, but that takes quite lot of extra work. Link to comment

Salk
that ring belongs to one of the nobles and is used as a proof for the murder of sarevok's father. Really ? I checked this and it does not really seem so. If you have that item in possession, this is what Ulraunt says: Why have I accused you? You were seen fleeing the murder scene. Koveras found the identifying ring of a Shadow Thief assassin in your personal effects, and gold minted in Amn. I feel that it is strong enough proof to accuse you. This makes me think that the ring should be a distinctive ring used by the Shadow Thieves, not a Ring of Protection +1. Link to comment
subtledoctor
Yeah, it definitely should not be cursed - the whole point is, Sarevok wants you to keep hold of it so that it will be considered as evidence against you. Giving you a useful item makes perfect sense. On the other hand a Ring of Prot. +1 is not actually very useful, there are plenty of them. Something different would definitely be preferable. Ideally related to Shadow Thieves... how about casting Imp. Invisibility 1x/day? That's an appropriate ring for a Shadow Thief assassin. Link to comment

That's an appropriate ring for a Shadow Thief assassin.Well, Koveras should give it with the charge expended for that day... cause it would be arguable that ... That and +2 to saves(as in, without the AC). Hmm, nice perhaps. Link to comment

Remember that Koveras lies about that ring being a present from Gorion, while in truth it should identify Shadow Thieves assassins. So the description must consider both these two factors. Being allegedly a gift from Gorion, the ring cannot be restricted to some alignment nor can it be specific to one class. And yes, now that I investigated better, the item should not be cursed but beneficial. Link to comment
Salk
I opened a new topic so that I won't derail the IR V4 Closed Beta thread. I have thought of this replacement and recolored a ring (ring21.itm) black with bluish highlights. Ring of Opportunity This ring was given to you by Koveras in Candlekeep. Its polished black surface is cold to the touch and engraved with powerful incantations. The ring's design and crafting material suggest western workmanship. On the inside you see what appears to be a thick figure eight with a slash mark through it. n-ghost
"May Selune light your path" would've been better imo. Not sure about charges (as with any item with charges, so I'm all prejudiced here). Otherwise the idea is nice. Link to comment
Salk
Amended description and effects for better lore and to be more in line with IR's spirit. Link to comment

Jarno Mikkola
> Luck +1So instead of +1 to AC and Saves, you would give a +1 to AC, saves, damage rolls, Thac0. STATISTICS: Special Abilities (once per day): Improved invisibility, blur and non-detection (1 turn) Equipped Abilities: Luck: +1 bonus Not Usable By: Wizard Slayer Erhm, I would pust just +2 to saves and one invisibility ones per day/rest. NOT Improved Invisibility ! It's a 3rd level spell, the power creep man ! Ouh, and a (lawfule good)Paladins should not be able to hold the ring. Just cause... Link to comment
